Last night I saw Valkyrie...
It's a good movie if you enjoy WW2 history, and it's based on a true story. I'm not much of a Cruise fan, but he played hiw role very well, IMO.
Considering there is not much else in theaters worth seeing other than Slumdog Millionaire or Role Models, I'd say Valkyrie is definitely worth a look.
It got a 63% 'Fresh' rating on RottenTomatoes, which by their standards is pretty decent.
Curious Case of Benjamin Button has an 8.7 on imdb, fairly high for their standards. Looks really cool, I'll have to watch it sometime.
I heard it was horrible, boring, long, not exciting, and a snoozer. As in you would fall asleep if you watched it. Also the accents are apparently annoying.Quote:

Just watched "The Reader" with Ralph Fiennes and Kate Winslet.
Now, I know most of WTF will not spend their money to see what appears to be another boring British love story.
But do me a favor and tell your friends NOT to see it, as well. Thank GAWD it was an Academy DVD screener and I didn't have to shell out $$$ to watch this piece of fucking garbage (FYI, my hot blonde neighbor is in the film industry -- next up, The Wrestler).
Lemmie put it to you this way: this 2 hour film felt like 4 hours, and could have been told in 1 hour. Unless you dig Kate Winslett aged and made up to look like an East German naked for a better half of the first hour, best spend your money on holiday shit offerings like Marley and Me.
In The Wrestler, you get to dig Marisa Tomei's nipple piercings. Let us know if that's any better. For quality and quantity of nude scenes, I gotta go with Winslet for now, but Tomei's doing her best to play catch-up. ;)Quote:

Marley and Me: Is Owen Wilson spent or what? What a piece of garbage. I guess it's based on the sappy piece of Mitch Albom-like shit book of the same name. I'm guessing it's about life through the eyes of a dog. Or how a dog can be so important and teach us life's lessons. But fuck that: Unless the dog can teach me how to lick my own balls, he's got nothing to say that I want to hear. Well, maybe the part about going out and shitting on my neighbor's lawn is pretty cool, or maybe because he's a dog he can watch Jennifer Anniston take a shower and not get arrested afterwards. Or hell, maybe she'll even smear her snatch with peanut butter and let him lick it off. But still, even with all those benefits, a dog is still a dog, still stupid, and it only takes him about 11 years to get to where I'll be in 75: farting and shitting everywhere and the people around me going, "Oh, poor Snoopy (or Granpappy Zip), he just doesn't know any better." The hell we don't, we're just getting back at our wives for nagging us all our lives and at our kids for being miserable rotten fucks who never listen to us. Or, in the case of the dog, he's probably just sick and tired of his owner going to work for 14 hours a day and locking him up in the house so he can't piss all day. And now, he's all, "Fuck this. I have to take a piss and a shit and I'll be damned if I'm gonna hold it while he's out trying to fuck his secretary behind his wife's back."
So, yeah, I'm picturing the same ol' Owen Wilson "Hey, I'm a flake but life is cool if you just rrelax, mannn" shit that we've seen since well, he was born. Fuck him. Him on screen making out with/pseudo fucking Jennifer Anniston? That would make me go psycho, and you wouldn't like me when I'm psycho. Top it off with them ruining their lives by getting married and having children (why would you want to fuck with her body in that way?), and this may just be the worst movie ever that I have not seen but still hate.
