I wasn't saying we'd get a wing back in the trade. I'm saying we'd go get a wing if we traded them. We wouldn't replace from within, we'd go get a replacement externally.Quote:

Yea and those professionals did a great job i.e. Minny. Buddinger was considered 1sr round talent by a hell of a lot of people. FYI I don't really look at mock drafts and have been watching this guy for a while. I don't care for idiots who think that teams always make the right choices and analysts who do this shit for a living and have no vested interest are incompetent and wrong. I think his mediocre performance in the NCAA Tourney hurt him a bit.
Just because a blind squirrel can find a nut every now and then doesn't mean our scouts can find not 1, not 2 but 3 "first rounders" in the second round.
I'm surprised you (Mick) think "The Bud" is a first rounder.
I'm surprised you think dealing him for a future second rounder from Houston in a better/deeper Draft is a bad deal.
I'm surprised you're not calling for Joe's head after another fucking Draft that saw us miss the boat on several quality first rounders (so we could Draft a dude that won't play much) and then let certain second rounders slip away too.

NBAdraft.net's mock of the 2009 NBA draft at of feb.18, 2008.
Take a look at who they have going #2 after Griffin.
Granted, that list is slightly tainted because at that time Thabeet hadn't announced he was staying in college. But still, Daye has been on the Radar as a hot prospect for some time now.
I never said anything about 3 "first rounders". My point is that Buddinger was considered to be 1st round talent and the guy is a shooter which we need. Of the four players drafted only two are shooters and Daye is in no way ready to play. We need to at least see what the guy has before we ship him off. We don't know if the the pick we get will be in a better draft. I don't even know when the pick will be for or if it has "terms" like the 2nd we got when we traded Acker (which was essentially no pick due to the stipulations.)Quote:

And FYI, there are a lot of 2nd round players in the NBA that I would have loved to have given a future 2nd for. Chalmers is one guy that I was saying that we should have drafted. He turned out to be pretty solid.
1. Budinger was not going to play ahead of Rip/Gordon, or his backup, Afflalo/Washington. He is a good prospect but would be wasted here.
2. Curry is here to stay, at least for another year. Joe would only be going backwards by firing him after the draft. Curry can/will be fired if he cant produce results after this season.
3. There were two other guys that were considered 1st round talent by many....Summers and Jerebko. I havent heard one bad thing about either pick.
Ultimately, this draft will be decided on whether Daye reaches his potential, but Joe absolutely did as well as anybody could have hoped with his 2nd rounders.
Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle: "Chase Budinger was by far the Rockets' most efficient and consistent scorer, finishing the summer league with 25 points on 7-of-9 shooting in 26 minutes Thursday. He averaged 17.8 points, making 68.1 percent of his shots. 'He showed he's a player,' Dunn said.
