At the SG/SF position we now have Rip and Tay, Stuckey will get some SG minutes, Afflalo, Washington, and 3 guys drafted before Budinger. Even if Rip or Tay is traded, we're going to get a starter to replace them, not fill in from the previous list.
I have no problem with us dealing that pick.
i get your point. but why are you assuming we would get a wing player back if we trade rip and/or tay? we could very well just get a big man which would be the position of much greater need and make more sense.....
^ yep
I want to see all of our picks play a little (summer league or even pre-season) before I start dumping guys. If we trade Tay or Rip and Buddinger is the best of the guys we drafted then what?? I'd rather see what he's got and what our other picks are like before we dealt him.Quote:

For a start this Draft was regarded as crap - although many players could play a role for teams I have to wonder how many guys will enjoy long NBA careers.
A second round pick in a future aka better Draft is hardly a bad move by Joe. And as stated above we've got perimeter guys all over the roster. If Budinger ends up being a quality role player we can complain, but I have serious doubts he'll amount to much.
The complaints IMO come from the fact that Daye is at least 2 years away from being a quality role player. With Johnson and Blair on the board (among others) it makes people wonder WTF Joe is thinking.
IF Joe is planning on being a contender next season then it doesn't really make sense to use a mid first round pick on a guy that won't/can't be used much. Johnson was the wiser choice IMO because he can play minutes now and isn't a wimp.
Blair? We've already got Maxiell - another guy like him isn't a smart choice. IF Joe viewed Blair, Johnson and Daye as equally "good" I don't see why we went with the guy that won't/can't play much now.
That's why I'm starting to believe that all this talk of Gordon and Boozer is bullshit, that we're not looking to be contenders next season and will move Rip and/or Tay for other younger players that could develop into some quality guys in 2 or 3 years.
By that time Daye and Stuckey should be reaching their peak, all the teething problems should be gone and the current contenders will either be gone or on their last legs.
Youth is the way forward - we've been left behind in the new NBA and unless you somehow manage to get Lebron, Howard or Wade here we needed to move in a new direction.
I think this Draft is the first step in that direction - but only free agency will show if I'm right or not.
Minnesota had four 1st round picks and what did they do? Draft three point guards and an undersized wingman. GW guys.
In that article about our 3 draftees making the roster it says we got a future 2nd and cash.
i'm sorry i just have to point this out because i've heard it from a few people now; the maxiell-blair comparison.
the only similarity they share is that they are both undersized PFs. but blair is taller and has at least as much length as j-max. not to mention, he's much, much stronger. and unlike maxiel, he's an OUTSTANDING rebounder. he vaccuums them up unlike any player i've seen come out of the draft in a long while.
and he has a legit low post game too. he's a beast on the bloc. he abused thabeet in their matchups like a school bully picks on a retarded kid. personally i don't think the comparison to j-max fits at all mostly because blair is simply a much more well rounded, polished, and simply better player. maxiell is at best a nice 6th man who can bring energy and hustle for 15 minutes or so. he can make a big impact in that time, no doubt.
but he's no blair. if there were no questions about his knees, he would've a top 5 pick, for sure. he can and will be a very good starter in this league IMO. and sure- teams like a PF to be about 2-3 inches taller. but he's not going to fail to achieve success because of that. he has really long arms and no doubt in my mind can be a successful PF. forget the measurables, put on the tape and this kid is a beast who will be a good one.
If we drafted Blair, then we'd have to have a pre-negotiated exit strategy for Maxiell or else we have a fucking asset that isn't worth shit.
Yeah, I would've loved to see us draft someone who could fucking rebound.
