It's a wonderful system we have... Only the rich benefit... politicians pockets are lined by whoever can pay the most (regardless of what's right for the majority).... they spend billions making the other side look bad vs using it on solutions... the partys only accept their own ideas instead of working for solutions as a team because there's another election around the corner...

Obama gets the blame for 2+ years of overall poor economic leadership and policy, Boehner and the house republicans get the blame for this specific, contrived, self-inflicted economic wound if the debt ceiling issue isn't resolved.

And liberals should get the blame for wanting continued deficit spending...if Boehner would allow a debt ceiling hike WITHOUT caps on spending.

If Boehner allows a hike without spending caps of some sort, he is Political TOAST...and should be.

None of them behave as though they understand the nature of the immediate disaster. 14 million unemployed people are the disaster. Deficits doomsaying is a sideshow and immediate cuts make the disaster worse.

Tahoe, the policy you're backing seems to be recommending curing Gangrene in the right leg by cutting off the left leg and shoving a spike into your eye. There's just no logic to it.

The tea baggers driving the republican bus right now don't care. Economic consequences, length and depth of recession, unemployment... none of that stuff matters. It's an ideological crusade against government, taxes and social spending of any kind. If that has to be a scorched earth fight then so be it.

Even when it gets down to the personal level where their own unions are busted, their jobs are cut, their social safety nets taken away... they're happy to be martyrs for the cause. No social wreckage or economic pain is too great to bear in the name of ideological purity.

I'm waiting for something to actually happen before it's news.
