I bet Pop thought that too, but likely thought with Duncan, Manu, Parker and Dice (the anti-Jefferson) the potential for fucking it all up would be non-existant.
Pop thought wrong and now the Spurs are wasting one of the last good years Duncan has got left.
Personally, I feel for them. I am so upset I'm willing to trade Richard Hamilton to the Spurs for Jefferson. This way they'll be OK.
And they can do a sign and trade with Manu and get a decent SF to team with Duncan, Parker and Rip for the next 3 years as they chase Championship Dreams....
