I think it's funny either way, to be honest.
People are fat, it's funny, and that is coming from a fat guy himself.
Bah, I think you're just deflecting shit anyways.
Man, I wouldn't have even known he was talking about Dumars and the emoticon if you hadn't posted Gla, thanks. It wasn't a fat joke but I like it even better now. Dude went half his life being a thin athlete in top physical shape. Then he discovered triple cheeseburgers. He's not fat because of "his family's history".
I was trying to explain to my now-ex-girlfriend since the day they made the miller/salmons trade, there was no way they were keeping Gordon. He was her favorite player, but, considering what they had paid Deng, they pretty much had to go Rose-Salmons-Deng-Thomas-Miller/Noah. It's just common sense. It was a done deal he was leaving back in February.
Agreed.Quote:

IMO Dumars definitely overpaid for Ben but none of us knows the particulars of what went down so it is what it is. I for one don't have a problem with other GMs and owners trying to make Dumars look bad. This might actually help us down the line in making better deals. People are leery dealing with a guy who always seesm to come out on top. If a guy screws up now and again (or at least has that appearance) he's somebody that you would be more likely to deal with hoping to get a steal. Just my opinion.
I do wish that I could have seen Joe's reaction when he read that stuff from Reinsdorf, I can only imagine.
You guys honestly thought Chicago would say that they wanted Gordon?
They offered him $50 mil twice and he told them to get stuffed.
Oh, I hear you now - they only don't want him now that they have Salmons!
LMAO - since when is John Salmons the guy you rely on?
While Salmons was bouncing around the league the last few seasons Gordon was posting big numbers and turning down $50 million contracts.
Gordon would have looked around and seen that the Bulls have been treading water since Michael Jordan retired and that the franchise had no idea how to move forward.
Years of decent Draft picks haven't helped them return to the elite and there is no evidence that they have any idea now.
So Gordon did what any sane individual would do - he bolted for pretty much the same pay in a better situation with a team that has a history of being Elite!
The Pistons win - that's what we do. The Bulls? Since Jordan left they've been stuck between mediocre and pathetic.
Smart move by Gordon and it's really a shame that you intelligent dudes can't see through the bullshit Reinsdorf interview.

Since he seems to have figured out volume 3P shooting -- nearly 42% on 4 attempts/game this year. That's probably Chicago's theory...Quote:

Things change, such as drafting an all star point guard in Rose and acquiring another competent 2 who CAN GUARD HIS OWN POSITION.
Yeah, I'm sure they (Bulls) were willing to negotiate with him (Gordon) this year. Just like we were willing to negotiate with Ben Wallace before he bolted. But they never were going to break the bank for him.
Doesn't matter now, he's a Piston and I'm going to root for him.
Salmons is pretty good, as long as you're not relying on him for any one thing. He's a jack of all trades, but master of none.
Philly tried to make him into a defensive stopper. He failed. Sacramento tried to make him into a #2 scorer. He failed that too.
He looked really good in chicago because he was getting table scraps from Gordon and Rose. Nobody was asking him to be a leader in anything specific.
If they start Salmons at the 2 this year, you'll see the same Salmons that Sacramento and Philly saw. He can't be relied on.
Chicago makes bad decisions. It's what they do. overestimating Salmons will be another one.
He averaged 18 PPG for Sacramento last year on great shooting. You can't just make stuff up.
i don't know that those roles were ever truly assigned to him....
the bottom line is the bulls let him play his game. and he's a scorer and a pretty decent defensive player. he did that pretty well this last year.
i'm jealous of the bulls talent but they do need to step up their basketball IQ. there's no way they should've let the celtics come back and win that series when they had them on the ropes. but they are still a young team and i'm sure they will learn and grow from that experience. then again, they regressed the season after they played us tough in that playoff series.
but i like del negro as their coach and i definitely think they're not to be taken lightly.
Geez, is there any chance that Salmons has, um, gotten better since he was in Philly?
1. With Curry gone Del Negro is easily the dumbest head coach in the NBA.Quote:

Didn't Deng average 20ppg in the playoffs one year?
Why do we always end up using a tiny sample of games as examples?
Why do I bother responding to Kstat?
Live strong K. Looks like you could have another little "battle of the sexes" going on in this thread.
Who are you gonna call a woman first, K?
Higher warrior or vinny?
GD - are you gonna take bets on who argues with kstat next? This could be the game of the off-season.
Nah, it's too easy to manipulate. All you would have to do is post something about Joe D or Tom Wilson having a pimple.Quote:

He's also a very selective homer.
If he gets annual 10% increases, 5yr/55m is:
$9.2m
$10.1m
$11m
$11.9m
$12.8m
Gordons starting salary is 10 mil, 58 total...you can give your own guys10% increase every year, 8 % is max for FA
$10,000,000
$10,800,000
$11,600,000
$12,400,000
$13,200,000 (PO)
He got $10 million starting with max 8% increases.
How do you justify having that coming off the bench?
Gotta trade Rip.
The :KING: does not need to justify anything to the subjects.

Him "knowing that he's coming off the bench" doesn't exactly sound as definitive as Langlois makes it sound.Quote:
Do you expect your role to be similar to the one you had in Chicago? Got any idea if you’re going to start or come off the bench?
BG: A lot of that comes from the coach. I learned that early. It’s going to be the coach’s decision at the end of the day. I’ve been on teams where I led the team on scoring, but I was coming off the bench. I’ve been on teams where I started. It’s just whatever makes the team better and the coach feels is more helpful for the team. In Detroit, what I’m expecting is to show my overall game a little bit more. Not just be somebody who can score, but also one who can make plays for his teammates and make them better. That’s something I’m looking forward to.

Hamilton may start all year, but how much of his bitching is Kuester going to take from him after he gets his minutes decreased because Gordon is better?
I'll put all of my alpacas on the future existence of a Bitch Hamilton/Kuester rift.
Third worst FA signing of the past 20 years?

This thread is a fun read
We could still get Ben Gordon on a fire alarm sale if we wanted to:
