Bumps and bruises: WR Mike Furrey left the afternoon practice with a sore knee. It didn't appear to be serious, but he will be re-evaluated. The plan appears to be that DE Dewayne White (groin), DT Shaun Rogers (knee) and TE Dan Campbell (elbow) will all get about a dozen plays in the third preseason game -- it will likely be their only preseason appearance. LB Teddy Lehman (shoulder) and RB Brian Calhoun (knee) could play in Saturday's preseason game at Cleveland.
What's next: The Lions will hold two-a-day workouts through Wednesday in preparation for this week's game. They will break camp when they return from Cleveland.
I have a strange feeling that Lehman is going to get cut.
Doubt it. If the rest of the group was solid I could see it, but there isn't exaclty a bunch of Ray Lewis types competing with him. I suppose it depends on his performance this weekend. If he looks terrible out there Rod might decide to move on.
Its really too bad he turned so injury prone. He looked like he had a ton of potential his rookie year.

Tuesday's news: Defensive end Kalimba Edwards, who returned to practice after sustaining a bruised left shoulder in last Thursday's preseason game, sprained his right ankle during the morning workout. The injury didn't appear serious. Also, the Lions signed free-agent fullback Keith Belton and put punter John Deraney on the reserve/injured list.
Quick impressions: Cornerbacks Keith Smith and Travis Fisher were getting reps with the No. 1 defensive unit, but head coach Rod Marinelli said not to read too much into it. "We're just rotating guys," he said. While that's likely true, it also gives the coaches a chance to see those players with the starting unit.
Keep an eye on rookie cornerback Ramzee Robinson, a seventh-round draft pick who has practiced well the last several days. He's not playing as if he's afraid, and he breaks on the ball with confidence. He has a long way to go, but he's showing flashes.
Coach's slant: First-round draft pick Calvin Johnson still hasn't worked his way into the starting unit at wide receiver, but that is coming soon. "It's close," Marinelli said. While it's obvious Johnson will be in the starting lineup when the regular season begins, there's still a process a rookie -- albeit a gifted one -- must go through. "Just like we did with (linebacker) Ernie (Sims) last year, we're going to let him earn it," Marinelli said.
Sideline view: Part of the problem with the offensive line and the running game, which we might see more of in Saturday's second preseason game, is that the coaching staff is doing a lot of experimenting with a lot of plays to determine what the linemen are best at. Some of those plays won't ever be called again because they don't fit what that group of linemen do best. The real test will come in the third preseason game against Indianapolis when the Lions put in a real game plan for an opponent.
Bumps and bruises: WRs Mike Furrey (bruised knee) and Roy Williams (hamstring) were kept out of practice, but both are expected to play Saturday against Cleveland. LB Boss Bailey was held out of a second consecutive workout, but he's also likely to play against the Browns. No decision has been made on LB Teddy Lehman (shoulder), who continues to practice but is questionable for the game.
What's next: The Lions will have single practices Thursday and Friday before heading to Cleveland for Saturday's preseason game. The Lions will break camp when they return to town.
glad to hear theyre not going to just put cj in the lineup. fuck with him a little, is what i say. it worked out great for mike williams and charles rogers, et al.
*not that im predicting that for cj, but knowing the lions... that would be something if they ruined the "best talent in 2 generations". if he doesnt pan out, roger goodell should permanently ban the lions from ever having marquee 1st round draft picks again.
I say cut Edwards before we cut Lehman. Edwards is the biggest POS that has played for the Lions the last few years and that is saying a lot.

Second-year safety Daniel Bullock might be lost for the season. Bullocks had his right knee buckle during a non-contact play late in the second quarter of Saturday's 37-10 loss to the Indianapolis Colts. An initial examination revealed the probability of a ligament tear, which would end Bullocks' season.
A more thorough examination will take place soon and the Lions are hoping it will reveal a sprain and not a tear, but club officials are already bracing for the worst.
So our shitty secondary just got shittier. Holt is gone isn't he?
