Maybe you should reread how this whole thing started. I stated that I like our PGs. Mxy stated (paraphrasing) that they're no good because our team has a low assist total. I stated you can't just blame the PGs for the fact our team has a low assist total. You decided to pretend I'm Glan.

I have no problem with the way CV is playing. I have no problem with the way JJ, Austin Daye or Ben Wallace are playing. Assists are secondary for them. But the low assist total for the team is more affected by them than the PGs.

Yes Mo, I understand the discussion.

No one thinks the guards are getting enough assists but you.

You think the the forwards should be carrying more weight.

Assists are far less than "secondary" to Ben Wallace and Kwame Brown.

No. Good example. Kid is already doing his share. You aren't happy with it. You think he should be doing more to take the assist pressure of Ben Gordon, Stuckey, and Bynum. You know, the guys who actually dribble the ball and take the shots.

Nope. I actually would be happy if both guards upped their assist total by at least an apg.

the only way thats going to happen is if one of Daye, Jerebko, Kwame or Big Ben up their scoring average significantly.

PGs are useless unless they lead the NBA in assists.

When your team is made up almost entirely of guards, your centers should carry the assist load.

I feel dirty.

A big man's job is to be a black hole. Once the ball goes to him, never give it up. It instills confidence from your teammates and helps the offense run more fluidly.

The Pistons' big men touch the ball.

Also I think we can blame the Pistons rebounding problems back 2003-2006 on Ben Wallace. He might have been in the top 3 in rebounding those years but I the Pistons as a team were in the lower half of the league. He obviously wasn't doing his part. It's a center's sole responsibility to collect rebounds.

From the last 2 pages, I'm convinced Flip Saunders is the most popular coach in the history of this forum. His teams put up a higher assist total than anybody else.

Rodney Stuckey puts up assists like Ben Wallace used to pull down rebounds.

It doesn't matter what Stuckey's assist total is. If the team isn't leading the league in assists, he's failed.

Look out John Stockton. Stuckey passes 4 times a game!

I wish Lamar Odom would stop passing. Those 5.0 assists he's getting per game are 5.0 shots per game he's passing up.

Kwame Brown, the next Lamar Odom.

I always thought it was silly when they called Chris Webber the best passing big man in the game. It's that gross misunderstanding of the game that pisses me off. Big men aren't supposed to pass, that's not what they're paid for.

You know what Chris Webber should have done more? Carry the ball across the time line. Forget that he does everything else. He really aught to help the guards out more with that.

I didn't know that bringing the ball over the timeline was a direct correlation to assist total. Do you actually get an assist if the ball is in your hand when you cross the timeline?

Apparently, if you are a guard, you get and assist if anyone else on the team gets one.

Like hockey.

The lack of assists shouldn't be all that surprising. If you remember back to last year, there were a lot of games where Rip or AI led the team in assists.

I think the best way to fix the problem is to have the rest of the league just stop getting so darn many of them.
