Not to belabor the point, but I'm going to anyway. I was thinking about Mubarak today when I was driving. It had to be that Mubarak got a knock on his door at 2am 3am or something and said

E Military: Your taxi is here.
HM: What taxi?
E Military: You are invited on a vacation. Your plain is waiting for you.
HM: I'm not going on a vacation right now.
E Military: Well its either that or...
HM: Ok. I'll pack.
E Military: Thats ok. We'll bring you some stuff later.

I'm not sure why I even took the time to do that, but I did.

The military in Egypt had/has a large economic interest in maintaining social stability since they run all the profit making industries in the country. I haven't read anything that characterizes the Libyan armed forces as anything but foreign mercenaries.

Thought this was a good read for the description the guy paints of the two different types of Arab countries calling for revolution, modern nation states with citizens that see themselves as one people and "tribes with flags" with citizens existing together in a very power dependent worldview.

Let's be honest here... Gaddafi is in the fetal position looking to crawl back in his mother's womb about now... there's no major threat.

^ I'd say there isn't a major threat right now. He can't even show his face right now. But if we don't kill him or make sure he gives up power, he could make a comeback. Dudes supposed to have a house full of gold bars and cash. Money buys you power over there...and over here for that matter.

I think its time this country's Gov't stop thinking about other Nations, where there are uprisings, as so black and white. Leaders are either Good or Bad, if leaders are Bad, then the peeps are good. Doesn't work that way. duh

Some of these leaders that are considered Bad, might be the lesser of two evils.

I think you hit a huge issue. You'd have to read the New York Times, but Thomas Friedman writes a couple of interesting opinion pieces on exactly what you're talking about:
