Happy thong thursday, you guys. Mine's blue.
Just found out that I'm the only person doing a talent, that I have no choice (or else the DJs will make fun of me), and it's standup.

I like your costume.
also, blaine and allison in the morning (although in this case, it was dana), are really nice people, and are pretty good looking. people were stunned as to why they are radio personalities and not on tv.
While on vacation, I was sorta staying with some folks. They had dogs that they didn't keep on a leash. I was always worried that I'd run over their dogs, and paranoid about it. They told me "don't worry, the dogs move out of the way". The next day, they ran over and killed one of their dogs. Depressing as hell.
Yikes.
thanks. i got the offer, pending an hr screen that im told is a formality, i will be accepting it.
what sucks is they want me to start on the 20th. they offered yesterday, and gave me till the 9th to accept. kind of annoying because i told them i'd definitely need to give 2 weeks. should i tell them the 20th is too soon? i really dont want to give notice till i clear HR, and would like to atleast have a night to prepare a resignation letter.
hate when things move too fast.
Yes, tell them two weeks from the clearance.
I agree. If a company has a problem with you leaving your previous employer in a respectful manner, that's a red flag.
its the recruiter pressuring me, think he may just want his commission. im going to contact their hr dep. directly, i'd feel really shitty about leaving on short notice unless there were some training thing they desperately needed me to be in. but i started the prcocess with this company like a month ago, so if it were so time sensitive they shouldnt have dragged it on so long.
thanks for the help, fellas. transitions are stressful.
It isn't a real offer until HR has cleared you. It's just a tentative offer. I had a tentative offer go sour because my would-be boss and boss's boss were laid off while HR was drafting the paperwork/doing their thing, when the company was found to be cooking the books.
right, so i cant give notice till its actually a done deal, either.
wtf
the co. doesnt care when i start, think it was the recruiter getting over zealous.
that aside, he hooked me up pretty good. the company is tough to get a spot, and despite the role being essentially what im already doing, the compensation is significantly better.
i know its the co. that pays the recruiter, but should i tip him? send him a gift basket (no homo) or something? anyone know standard recruiter practices?
No experience with head hunters but I once bought a guy a round of golf who hooked me up with an interview for a job I eventually turned down. He kept me in mind for a few other things that he became aware of (one that lead me to a different job down the line). It was kind of a thanks and sorry gift since I turned it down.
rd of golf is a good idea, think he mentioned he plays. did you get just the one pass or what?
I think I went with a little more than a single round and a cart on the weekend. I don't think it was enough for two walkers. It was a gift certificate that he could use in the shop or restaurant if he chose (there were certain restrictions).
congrats on the offer b. I'm 11 days into my new one. Stressful as shit, a ton to learn, and not much time for internets, but it's a stepping stone on the way to prosperity. Good luck with the transition, I'm definitely glad to be most of the way through.

Interorectogestion?
I realized last night that my body has developed a dependency on my pain killers :(
My knee didn't bother me too much yesterday, so I didn't take any. When I was trying to go to bed I was wide awake, one of my arms was tingly and had a couple spasms, then I realized I was going through fucking withdrawals. It's nice that I'm not addicted (because obv I wouldn't have gone the whole day without taking any if I was), but it sucks that I was so proud of myself for not taking one all day and I had to ruin it to get rid of the withdrawals so I could go to sleep.
The first step is admitting you have a problem.
Yeah yeah :P
I've always taken less than the doctors expect me to take and the bottle says to take, because I don't want to be on painkillers all the time. Still though, 1-2 on most days (the bottle says 4-6) for 18 months apparently means that going without for a whole day pisses the body off. It's a low grade, non-narcotic prescription. I really didn't expect withdrawal symptoms to kick in because my knee felt almost OK for a whole day, and comparatively speaking that was good enough for me to not take one all day.
