Why there's so much Bigfoot shit on TV
When someone says they have netflix do they mean they just have the streaming service or do they also get blu ray discs mailed to them (Well Glen still has DVD)
I don't think I know anyone who gets the discs anymore.
Initially, Netflix was all about DVDs. Now they're about streaming. Netflix has both streaming and DVD/Blu-Ray services. I wanna say it's something like $8/month for streaming or $16-18/month for streaming + DVD/Blu-Ray. You can't get DVDs without streaming. Needless to say, most people who say they have Netflix have just the streaming. It used to be more worthwhile to get DVD/Blu-Ray from Netflix (or other rental outlets). Then the major studios came out with "rental" versions of DVD/Blu-Ray that stripped out most-all of the extra features. Also, bandwidth to and compression for common Netflix devices got better. So streaming is the new hotness.
We stream to the TV thru the Wii U in one room and the old Wii in another. Whole family has devices that stream 'flix, too.
I keep telling people to enjoy this $7.99/mo while it lasts, I expect it to double or more at some point here soon
Not as long as Amazon Prime's $99/year plan is in force. There's about as many Amazon Prime customers as there are Netflix, and most of the Prime crowd hasn't dug into the video -- it's about free shipping for them. Currently, the Netflix stuff works better and has more content, but Amazon's definitely catching up. Amazon successfully extorted Warner Bros. and Disney into providing content by fucking with their DVD sales... they have all kinds of leverage. I lunch off a family member's Amazon Prime account for the aforementioned free shipping. They can't justify paying for Netflix since Amazon is good enough for them. Netflix will have a hard time getting away with >$9.99/month price point.
I've got the Prime free trial going right now.
Prime having the HBO stuff is huge and I got the Echo thing which makes Prime music pretty valuable too....
I have Netflix right now too but I turn it on and off every few months, binge on some stuff and then turn it off again. That's a huge factor compared to cable, the ease in turning it on and off....when I'm busy and not watching much TV, just turn it off....
I have Amazon Prime just for the shipping. I actually bought the Amazon Fire TV box last week and its actually really nice compared to my 5 year old apple tv box. Unfortunately a lot of the content on Amazon Prime costs money compared to netflix where you know its free. The best is HBOGO though. They have everything.
So I guess if you guys don't get the physical discs, what do you for newer movies that aren't streaming
All movies are streaming.

but can i stream these on my amazon box to my tv. I don't want to watch a movie on my 13 inch laptop screen.
There are many ways to throw your laptop/tablet/computer/cell phone screen up onto your tv.
You guys are amazing
