I know. I was just pointing out that of the 2 most popular 90's period gangbanger movies, Menace is 100x better.Quote:

what bothered me about the film was moore's rather sophomoric attack on basic capitalism. i hope he does this better in his new flick. but even still, this movie is very poignant.
i actually was layed off several months ago, and just in the last week got a job offer and have started working again. im glad i didnt watch this while i was unemployed. im much more fortunate than those flint employees. they really were victims of being at the tale end of a culture where good jobs were available for the unskilled. and once those dried up, everyone was screwed. there was no incentive to add a different skill set, or even detroit / flint's economy to diversify, since auto was so lucrative and easy to get into. oil rich countries face the same dilemma. no one wants to do anything but get that oil money, and who can blame them?
anyway, extremely sad movie. moore does a nice job of juxtaposing the privileged and the left behind. i dont think it is as relevant today as it was, though. everyone today should understand the necessity of education and honing a skill.
+ 19 for bdiddy. Don't spend it all in one place.
I really enjoyed Punisher War Zone... fun as hell, and perhaps the truest live-action adaptation of a Marvel comic. Third time's the charm!
i caught a few minutes of '300' tonight on tbs.
2 things stuck out to me about the movie
1) it sucks
2) it was definitly written by a little brother, in fact, i was so sure i looked it up, and yup, the writer is the 5th of 7 children. doesnt get much more little brother ish than that. no surprise there.
Sex Drive cracked me up.
I watched some movie called Lower Learning with Eva Longoria and Jason Biggs (Jim from American Pie). It was shit.
Shrink.
Has Kevin Spacey in it but he's not the entire focus of the movie. It's good. I'm still watching it now.
I watched an old one "Don't mess with Zohan" and I didn't even crack a smile. I usually feel safe with AS.
Looking forward to hearing about Zombieland.
Zombieland got great reviews, actually. I can't wait to go see it. I heard it was hysterical.
Headed out to see Zombieland pretty soon.
Some solid, solid shit. One of those movies you know is going to be manly and awesome from the opening scene. You'll recognize a few phrases that have been practically ripped from the WTFdictionary.
Someone's ear is in danger of having hair brushed over it.
Dial M For Muder
It's pretty much Rear Window only in this one the dandy plans the murder rather than figures it out.
Just saw it - solid movie. It wasn't the Laugh Out Loud comedy that I thought it would be (even though there were some LOL moments), but it was funny the whole way through, and badass in the action scenes.Quote:

Watched GI Joe the other day and it's really impossible to talk about it without comparing it to the other 80s toy-inspired cartoon based movie. Like the first transformers movie, it was a brainless but really fun ride that gave some great nostalgia if you watched those shows as a kid. I would rank the action/fight/fx as a couple notches better than transformers with better staged, more "epic" battles.
I might feel differently if I'd paid full freight for a movie ticket but it was definitely worth watching at home.
Anyone catch Paranormal Activity? I saw it last night. While it was pretty unsettling and very well done, I wouldn't qualify it as the "scariest movie of all time." There were some really creative things that they did for a movie that was on a $15,000 budget.
I usually make fun of the horror film genre, but I thought this movie was pretty good. Definitely go check it out if you have a free weeknight.
I really liked Restraint! Go rent it!
Restraint is a dark thriller set in Australia. A murderous psycho thug (kind of a young Brad Pitt, with serious acting chops) and his stripper gf (a younger, hotter version of Nicole Kidman) are on the run, and find themselves in a mysterious agoraphobic's mansion. They hold him hostage, and much twisted stuff (some of it being somewhat violent) ensues. I don't want to spoil it, but there's good acting, good cinematography, and it keeps you watching. The special features alternate ending is worth it too...
Zombieland - Pretty good, exactly what I expected. The end got kinda stupid though. I mean, those have to be the dumbest chicks ever. How do the carnival rides start all on their own?
District 9 - I hadn't really read anything about it, just heard that it was good. Totally caught me by surprise. Definitely recommended to everyone. Even the female liked it.
I heard that movie's realllllly fucked up and scaryQuote:

It's generally easy to follow even without the subtitles. It's definitely worth renting. Bring popcorn.
Nothing But The Truth wastes Kate Beckinsale and Academy Award-level acting by Matt Dillon, Alan Alda, and Vera Farmiga on a plot that would've been a fine primetime TV movie of the week. It's a melange of the Judith Miller/Valerie Plame story. The twist of an ending is dumb. Informed consent simply was not achieved between the child and reporter at the get-go.
Despite having a bunch of actors in it that I like (DeNiro, Sean Penn, Turturro, Tucci, etc, and Bruce Willis, whom I don't care for) and reviews that read "Hilarious!" and "Funniest movie of the year!", "What Just Happened" really sucked. Hard.

You don't like Bruce Willis Gla?
Not a fan of 'action heroes'.Quote:

I wasn't joking.
That's only funny when LDB does it.
I was imitating the Goshboots bit, actually, unless you mean that specific photo.
It made me laugh, in any case, so it was well worth it.
Yeah, that photo. Zips pics are another level entirely. I would delete #1197 if I were you.
Neaux U
Zack and Miri Make a Porno was okay.
I know, my reviews suck.
