I wonder if it's someone from the auto industry. It really makes sense that someone from that field would be interested.

Too much scrutiny in light of what happened over the past couple of years, IMO.
I'm hearing Lee Iacocca rumblings. Also, no I'm not.
The rumblings of him dying, maybe.
The Strykers maybe, whoever they are?

Come on guys. There are a dozen people "next in line". I'm sure I'm in there somewhere in the 10s of millions. No story here.
Izzo.
Clearly.
If Dan Gilbert could find an owner for the Cavs (LOL), I bet he'd be in the running.
Vince McMahon? LMAO
Everything he's attempted outside pro wrestling has falied big time.
World Bodybuilding Federation, the XFL, the WWE Film Division, his wife running for the Senate...
In the real world he can't function because in WWE he is God!
Can't wait to buy season tickets to the Detroit Palace.
Little Caesars Palace
They could play in a fucking Hot-N-Ready box and I'd still buy season tickets if that shit was 20 minutes from my house.
Will you spend, even if Ilitch doesn't?
Meijer would be nice.Quote:
Yeah, the Dutch are big spenders.
Good point. They do advertise quite a bit with the team, though.
Here's some more on the Michigan-based billionaires on the Forbe's list.

would a lockout benefit a Pistons sale? just askin
Well anything thats gets us closer to the end of Rips contract is probably good. More importantly it would prevent Joe from doing anything else stupid before the sale.
Probably a dumb question, but do the census numbers that were released today, which confirm the massive loss of population in the region, devalue the Pistons even more, or was that already factored in to the reduced value?
^ Poor sentence structure, but fuck it.
It happens to the best of me
After a while, if you keep reading (if you can call it that) someones writtings that have meanings, that other may or may not be clear about, will keep some of those in the forefront, even if subliminal in nature, and through sleeping will have the same determinant effects, however small, through time and in the end, not the real end, but a quasi end, will after time end up fixing all problems or something.
Gutzesque.
I would assume they already have current TV ratings which already covers the main effects that the reduction in state population has on the team.
I keep hoping to come to this thread and see some fuckin progress for chrissakes.
frustrating.

Word in league circles is that negotiations to sell the Pistons to billionaire Tom Gores are far enough along to expect the matter to come to a vote by the Board of Governors April 14-15 in New York. League approval will be a welcome development for the organization, whose basketball operations department was paralyzed by the proposed sale. The Pistons are one of a handful of teams not to complete a single roster transaction this season.
Awesome news.
Hoopsworld.com: While current Pistons' president Joe Dumars has never been on the hot seat under current ownership, there is a growing sense that Gores will look to clean house once he owns the team and that could mean that both Joe Dumars and current head coach John Kuester could be out this summer as Gores looks to take the team in a new direction and give it a fresh start.
this would be more exciting if it wasn't the third or so time hearing that the team was about to be sold.
I'm not sure if I'm going to like the new owner anyways. I have no clue what Gores would do, he might be stupid as fuck. I already suspect that he doesn't give a shit just by his profession at Platinum Equity. It would be a smart financial move to buy the Pistons in their current market and sell them when it picks up a bit. I think that's what he views the purchase as, which makes me think he won't be investing anything into the team.
At least no one on the roster deserves having more invested in them though. So it will work for a minute at least.
Well, if he is going to clean house, I'm pretty pumped about that. Just keep Monroe, Jerebko, and Daye, unless there is a ridiculous deal for any of them (not likely).
I would LOVE it if they got rid of the entire front office.
cleaning house seems like a teal move to me. I'd rather keep the office as similar as it can be, but have them get back to playing tough, energetic, defensive ball on the court. A few players with brain cells wouldn't hurt either.
Joe will be in the front office if he wants to be. He'll just be kicked upstairs (roof?) if he wants to stay. He might want to bail though. I'd be surprised if he was in charge of the draft, personnel, etc though.
I bet Gores brings in some MBA, stathead type ala Daryl Morey in Houston.
