this is probably oversimplification, but practically speaking, this is pretty much as close as we get to victory in afghanistan. im sure obl death isnt the main metric the military is using, but i dont think anything else is going to feel more like victory, and i dont see how we could have gotten out with him being alive without it feeling like defeat.
then again, how important is how it feels?
but the more i read (and believe me, very little work is getting done today), the worse this looks for pakistan. if this were ten years ago and we werent as war weary as we are now, i think the war drums would be thumping to go in there -- nuclear power notwithstanding.
as it is, i think pakistan just shoots to near the top of our shitlist. didnt we just help them out with some pretty bad floods? wtf pakistan... not cool.
