There is plenty of gross in it though.
Psychological Thriller, alot of this supposed wannabe super smart psycho serial killer shit flooding the markets all really go back to Se7en. There is some graphic parts, but it's more or less a thriller. David Fincher's first time directing w/o sigourney weaver cursing him out everyday to change everything to her liking(see Alien 3).Quote:

It's not a GREAT movie, but it's pretty good and I was entertained, laughed a bit.
I'm not the only one....

Seven cracked me up. It's a non-stop riot.
Step Brothers is terrible. But I would absolutely do Mary Steenburgen.
Go see Melvin and Howard if you're a Mary Steenburgen fan.
I watched The Graduate last night on TCM. I have not seen that movie for 15 years. It was great.
Ted Turner is a lib.
Tahoe reads TCM as The Classic Movies
I saw a low-budget indie called Cyxork 7. Billed as kind of a low-budget Galaxy Quest, it ended up being even crappier than what it was trying to parody. The worst part was that it was actually engaging for the first 10 minutes or so, when Paget Brewster was in it. I spent longer than I should have waiting for it to get good again.
Any reviews on Pineapple Express?
My bro-in-law said that he lol'd in the theater several times.Quote:

Absolutely hilarious. I was laughing very loudly on many occasions and I was not alone. The whole theater was cracking up. For what it is (a movie about potheads being idiots), its everything you would want.
Rented 21 last night. Solid movie. and Bosworth was looking hot as always too.
Why are potheads so funny? I'm not disagreeing with you, I just don't understand why I find them hilarious.Quote:

Proportionally, a toothpick with raisins has some pretty damn big boobs.Quote:

you must be referring to the 2006 bosworth (with her weight issues). She looked pretty good in 21.Quote:

On another note, I saw the straight-to-video WarGames 2. It's ok in the "bad movie" sort of way. If you go in thinking it will hold a candle to the original WarGames, be prepared to be VERY disappointed. The technology simply does not work the way it's presented in the movie, despite the director's commentary saying otherwise.
I also saw the straight-to-video low-budget Zombies: Anonymous, which was actually fairly decent. The premise is that zombies have their mental faculties when they die, so you have the living and the "mortally challenged". There's gore, some humor, some sympathetic moments for the zombies. And the lead actress is a cutie... think Buffy with a hotter body.
You Kill Me is about an assassin (Ben Kingsley) who's having a hard time of it. He goes into Alcoholics Anonymous and falls in love with a woman who's just a little off (Tea Leoni). It's not quite a romantic comedy and not quite a hitman kinda film and the pace meanders a bit and maybe Kingsley wasn't the right role for the lead (if Kingsley and Bill Pullman had swapped roles, that would've been ideal), but it's pleasant to watch.
Too much sympathy. Either way I dont care about that. she's not a Lois Lane. They should have got an attractive actress who yet in still embodied the not so attractive margot kidder's performance.Quote:

Not to interrupt the Bosworth discussion...
Saw Tropic Thunder this weekend. It definitely made me laugh periodically, but they tried to make it so stupid that it almost didn't work. Cruise, Downey and even *gasp* McConaughey were good in it.
I would say that if you haven't seen it, you can wait until it comes to HBO.
I'm not defending Bosworth, but attacking the script. Lois Lane in that script is a cipher to the end. Lois Lane as portrayed in the comics and other media since the '30s is not a cipher. And it results from the script's idiotic premise -- Superman flies away for years for something that's pretty stupid, which is as un-Superman a thing to do as Lois being cryptic. The acting was better than the script, which says a lot about how bad the script was.Quote:

I watched Disney's "Camp Rock" today. Pretty much the biggest let down in the world for an Original Disney Movie. I don't know how it drew the 2nd biggest cable audience ever back in June, the acting was brutal. The Jonas Brothers are a total disgrace to rock music. And it wasn't hard to tell that Demi Lovato (who, as an added caveat, is actually my cousin, twice-removed) was playing her first headline role in a film. Her acting was spotty and unexciting.
The fact that they are currently making a sequel, is depressing. When your a kid, Disney can make you more popular than God, but then the second you turn 21, they want no part of you.
We couldn't make this stuff up, could we?
I came home early from work and caught my wife watching this movie. I have been making fun of her for it ever since.Quote:

Cloverfield was terrible if you were expecting anything more than a terrible monster movie.
Two Champions Of Shaolin starts off slow and is a little long, but there's some good fight scenes as the movie goes on. The dub is a little garbly, but who cares about words when you're seeing someone's balls get ripped off.
Psycho Kickboxer is a low-budget movie made in the late 90s that feels like it could have been made in the 80s. It's so bad (especially the acting) that it's quite entertaining, and there's not much plot to spoil the action. Kickboxer's fiancee and father is killed by big baddies in front of his face, so he becomes a Dark Angel (sometimes wearing a ninja costume, even) to get revenge.
I finally saw Black Book, which is a masterpiece! Normally, I have a problem with movies with just subtitles and no dub, an inability to pay attention and do casual tippety-typing on a computer at the same time. But Carice Van Houten is just... WOW. Verhoeven's commentary is worthwhile for anyone who really wants to know the history, too. Thumbs up!
Pan's Labyrinth. Fucking awesome. 9.5/10.
The Golden Compass: notsomuch. I thought it sucked. 5.5/10
I read Golden Compass and saw the movie too. The book was way better. That book has two sequels that are much better even than the first book.
Agreed. Pan's Labyrinth is probably the greatest foreign drama i've ever seen. Golden Compass as an idea movie and book never moved me. Though I can't say the book is bad writing, it just didnt keep me interested.Quote:
