He played out of this world at the end of last year and for the first month or so of this year, and then he hurt both of his ankles and lost his explosiveness and has struggled. Some will say that injuries are an excuse and others will say that injuries are an explanation, but I tend to think that what we saw from him last year and early this year is more of what he really is than what we've seen since the ankles, but I'm sure that some that resent the attention that he received when he was playing well will disagree. He's obviously been told to try to create for others more than look for his own as of late, and he's done a decent job as of late, and I like that he kept going out there because he knew the team needed him. His TOs started going up when he started to look for others more, but I don't mind those kind of turnovers as much as palming/traveling/offensive fouls and getting your shot rejected and giving the other team easy transition baskets, which might as well be considered TOs. I'm still pleased with his effort and heart, for sure. A great find by the organization.
No need for all that GD.
I really like the guy, it's just funny how he's no longer a topic.
No, I agree and the detractors deserve their time to gloat since his play has certainly dropped off since the ankles. There was bound to be a backlash given the Stuckey/sacred cow angle and all of the national attention that Bynum was getting (at/near the top in the Hollinger rankings, making those "most underrated" lists, etc). If anyone doubted Bynum at all, the past few weeks was your time to shine, but hopefully that time is coming to an end as he (and the team) get back to 100%.
I don't even care if he cant score like he used to. He needs to stop turning every other team's PGs into Chris Paul clones. It made me sick watching Macrus fucking Banks slice and Dice us in the 4th quarter sunday.
The weird thing is no one gloated. Because everyone likes the kid.
Some just like him way more than others and have unrealistic expectations for the lad. Let him be what he is and the team will benefit greatly because of it.
Since he came back from injury, he's got a 44:6 assist:to ratio.
Over the last 6 games it's 34:3
And he (and the team) is much, much better with him OFF THE BENCH than it would be with him starting.
Although if Joe could trade Rip and Stuckey for a big man and Bynum had to start I'd be happy to accept it
when Joe D resigns Bynum, and he will pay market value or overpay, thats for sure, the Pistons will add another well payed 15-20 min guy to the roster, whos not a capable starter in this league, just like Maxiell, Villa, Gordon
IMO he'll get a pretty good deal from Joe and our bench will be set:
Will the Thrill
Flash Gordon
The Daye Tripper
Super Nova
Mad Max
Our starting line-up needs attention though
