Glan's new hero. President Bush.
Wonder if the troops thought the public show of support was weird?
Need to get Bubbles's thoughts.
Poor Tahoe.
If you would have asked almost any liberal, prior to yesterday, if they would approve of us going in and killing the bastard without starting a war, I think you'd have near consensus.
I hate Twitter.Quote:

osama bin laden, i happy you die. if i saw you i kill you myself you motherfucker gay piece of garbage
True, assuming any of it can be believed. Thus far, the military folks say it was Gitmo and such that led to Bin Laden. The CIA follks say it was rendition (probably to Bagram) and such that led to Bin Laden. Seems like everyone wants to take credit and justify their past actions. Thus far, the publicly reported timelines suggest that the intelligence that led to Bin Laden's demise largely wasn't military, but of course we're not privy to all the info.
It is true that Obama hasn't done what he said he'd do with Gitmo. His position seems to be a near-180 from his campaigning and initial months as President. I think he simply gave up on that in favor of other agenda items like the stimulus, health care, etc.. It will be interesting to see how Bin Laden's demise factors into this and other aspects of "war/enemy combatant" politics.

LOL
The more recent reports suggest that Operation Cannonball:

and actually having CIA field agents in Pakistan was the real key to getting action-able intelligence. This was a Bush-era initiative, which reportedly occured as a result of the Gitmo "enhanced interrogations" not yielding very much on a number of fronts and having all of the Arabic agents sucked up in Iraq. There's just no substitute for "feet on the street".
Apparently, what hampered things was the reluctance to actually send the military into Pakistan. At the time Obama was running for president, he was chided as being naive by McCain and Republicans for suggesting that. Obama won and stuck to his guns, took a huge gamble and appears to have won. Had he lost, he would've been a one-term president for sure, and that might be the least of the problems if a country with nuclear capabilities decided to get itchy. This wasn't just drones sent into the grey border between Pakistan and Afghanistan.
Great links. Newsmax is a joke, but the info from Rummy is interesting.
My question is, where is Bin Laden's wife now?
Which one?
The one mentioned in the story that helped the Seals identify his body.
Always one step ahead, you are.
It's so great to live in this country where a dedicated lefty, socialist, amateur, who hates America and our military was still able to do its job.
Congrats to our military and Prez Bush and VP Cheney.
And, again, welcome all of you Neocons, who now support an action in a sovereign country to murder someone.
I could only imagine if Bush did this.
Thanks to EITs, we were successful.
Hey Swami and Glan our NEOCONS. You must be happey that Obama didn't shut down GITMO. Didn't stop EITs. Didn't pull troops from Iraq. Didn't stop wiretapping. Didn't stop rendition.
Where is your outrage now?
U mad? or U hypocrites?
Hi Glan, Truth is I was coming here to post in sports and prolly something on Osama's death Sunday night, but I guaranfuckintee it wouldn't have looked anything like it does if you hadn't had to start politicizing it.
Remember how 'u mad' u got when the Repubs put a picture up of the rubble of 9-11 in the 08 GOP convention? Remember how you wanted to punch someone? Remember how you said it was despicalbe to politicize 9-11?
Well, you sir, are a hypocrite. Now you politicize the killing of UBL.
Poor Tahoe.
Surely you can see the difference between celebrating a flat out crazy successful operation by our military (with no American casualties) where not only did we kill pretty much the most evil person on earth, a man that killed thousands of citizens on our own soil, and the displaying footage of the aftermath of these attacks, people crying and dying as a fear mongering tool, right?
Also I'm a lil drunk so that may not make sense, but that's how I feel right now, lol.
Hey Barry,
Why did you make sure to release pics of Abu Graib?
Hey Barry why did you release pics of soldiers caskets?
But now you are worried about the 'sensitivities' of Islamic Jihadists?
Hey Glan,
Do you want to explain again how Sarah Palin having her family on stage is different than Prez Obama having his family on stage?
You politicized Sarah Palin and her special needs child. Really sick.
U another Jack Stuef?
Keith Olberman even busted Jack. KEITH FRICKIN OLBEMANN.
You hangin you hat with Jack Stuef still?
To be honest, I don't even know who Jack is.
And IIRC, the thing that was so over the top was the passing around of the baby, the showcasing, almost like he/she was a trophy. It was also late at night, a time when a newborn's best interests are not being passed around on a stage as he/she struggles to sleep.
So yes, I politicized her parenting skills, her wisdom and her motivation for passing a newborn around on stage/worldwide tv, for political gain.
I don't think that I am the first one to politicize the questionable actions of a politician during a political campaign.
Poor Tahoe.
