Once he told me that, I got the assumption that the Pistons are a franchise who will retire anybody's # as long as they were a solid player and part of a memorable season...

When it comes to VJ it's not like we're talking the hall of fame, retiring a number is pure PR. Being a fan favorite and core piece of a title or two is plenty.
