I love it when I say "get out and run," people always just assume I'm talking about going back to the days of doug moe.

Shit, I'm not even talking about going back to the days of george irvine.

This current team has the best chance to score on the secondary break. They do not have very good halfcourt personnel, but they have some very fast, athletic guards.

There's a reason that, despite all of the scoring guards we have, this team is damn near the bottom of the NBA in offense.

It's still possible to run and still play good defense. Iverson has played on fine defensive teams in the past and still averaged his 30.

There's a bunch of square pegs being forced into round holes. Play to the strengths of Iverson and Stuckey. Let Tayshaun Prince be the #1 offensive option in the halfcourt, and Rip when Tayshaun is out.

Successful teams can control tempo, force the other team to play their game.

That doesn't mean "grind the game to a halt".

This just means knowing when it's appropriate to run and when to grind, and having the tools to take advantage of either situation.

There isn't a team in the NBA that has the tools to match pace with iverson and stuckey in the open floor. Therefore, it should always be in their best interest to get out and run.

The problem with running is you have to rebound first. Since they suck at rebounding it would be difficult to run and gun from full court out of bounds situations.

they can rebound enough. They aren't great on the glass, but they aren't terrible either, so long as they aren't going small.

Their rebounding margin is -.8 per game. That's with being 6th in the NBA in opponents FG%, which means there are plenty of defensive boards to get. They just aren't getting them.

again, totally skewed by the small ball games where they got murdered on the glass.

Yeah, not a good rebounding team at all.

Also, was this thread meant to be an open letter to Kstat (Dear Kstat, ...)

Or was it a term of endearment? (Bubbles saying "(My) dear Kstat" ...)
