I'd like to see Joe take a flier on Chris Johnson or Robert Dozier at #44.
Granted, both are pretty 1-dimensional shot blockers, but we could use those right now.

i'd go with beverley or de colo.
Budinger wouldn't kill me either. Probably the best pure shooter in the draft outside of Curry.
i like dozier and he'd be a good replacement for amir actually. similar abilities and build.
^ Will any of them make the team?
damn. there goes beverley. i'd take de colo. maybe mcclinton. will probably be a no-name guy.
Summers will. He's a lock. Joe did not draft him to stash him.
we're up. de colo is there for the taking.
do we go 'local' and take goran suton?
DANNY GREEN PLEASE
I'd take Budinger over Green.
summers is a definite contributor. jerebko will stay overseas for a year or 2 at most. but IMO he is a guy who can definitely play too.
daye is the biggest project of them all but he gets the 1st round contract. has nice potential though...
for next year, Summers>Daye.
don't usually agree with dickie V. but he's right on blair.
he should be a piston right now.....
we're up. quick, go to commercial!
LOL!
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
THEY FINALLY TOOK MY BOY BUDINGER!
FINALLY THEY TAKE A PLAYER I WANTED!
WOW GOOD PICK JOE
I'm glad we did this tonight guys, really. I'm done with this shit, peace out!
Joe had 3 2nd rounders and only drafted one euro-stash. I'm proud of you, Joe.
Both Budinger and Summers are NBA-ready wings.
#44......we take chase budinger. if you told me 2 years ago we'd get him here, i would've jumped all over it.
he didn't live up to expectations coming out of HS but he's a softer version of wally sczerbiak IMO. not bad to get him here.
now what the hell do we do with all these 2's & 3's?
joe had better make some good deals. i definitely would not have passed on blair but i can see the logic in getting the shooters he got. now he's got to put a team around them.
still a lot of time to do that but he has to move quick.....
I'm thinking Joe is moving both tay and rip for bigs.
don't be shocked if budinger plays overseas for a year though. seems like the type who would do it. but let's see how the roster in front of him plays out.
no way we go to camp with these 2's and 3's:
rip
tay
summers
afflalo
daye
washington
jerebko (stays overseas for a year i'd guess)
budinger
would love to package rip for kaman and prince for....brand. that sucks up some cap space but gives us a legit big man. 2 in fact. then we still have about $10 mil under the cap to go and get someone like gordon.
stuckey
gordon
summers? fuck if i know
brand
kaman
bynum
j-max
afflalo
daye
jerebko (stays overseas for a year)
washington
budinger?
brown
who am i missing? it's late. i'm tired. at least 1 or 2 more bigs.
Budinger went to houston for a future 2nd and cash.
fuck me. seriously? that's a waste. what good is a future 2nd?
Man fuckers take the draft way too deeply around here. Joe hasn't handed a job to a rookie yet, doubt he's bumping Rip or Tay for any of these guys. At least not until they prove something on the court.
who said we were expecting these guys to be starters?
Kstat seems to be, He's already penciled Starters to be traded based on these picks(for opposit positions no less to clear a way). If you weren't then I guess wasn't referring to you.Quote:

I don't get why Minny took Flynn after getting Rubio. Two PG's? That seems dumb to me.
I don't really like him either. I think his ceiling is a role player off the bench. As I said before, he is too short to be a full time PF. plus he has knee issues.Quote:

Thanks to Kstat and HW for doing pretty much the whole Draft.
I wonder how everyone feels now about our scouts and Joe on Draft Day?
Yeah, all these cats could turn into legends or complete bums but I think Joe's history on Draft Day took another hit.
I do understand why he took all these guys - even Daye. Joe sees that the league has changed completely. No longer can you have a PF that can't hit a 20 foot jumper. You need guys that can play multiple positions, can hit the long bomb, are long and/or tall.
I just wonder if these picks kind of tip Joe's hand in free agency/trades?
We've got our perimeter covered. Maybe we all our money on bigs and Ben Gordon gets nothing more than a coke and a smile?
going the joe dumars isiah thomas route perhaps?Quote:

Analysis: Interesting draft for the Pistons. They take three forwards who can play both the 3 and the 4, all with terrific upside and all with big question marks about their consistency and drive. If these players play up to their potential, Detroit may end up as one of the big winners on draft night. If they stay inconsistent, Pistons fans are going to be frustrated.
Stu Scott sucks balls.
I hate our draft, as usual.
Summers probably looks like the best pick.
Oh, and nice schnoz on Rubio.
Going to be frustrated? Going to be? Fuck!
If James Johnson plays reasonable next season I'll be slightly more than frustrated. Actually, I'll be a long fucking way from frustrated. And when I say "long way" I mean Cairns to LA kind of distance.
While I understand why we chose who we chose I don't know why Daye was our pick and Johnson wasn't?
Blair? I didn't want him anyway - he's a career role player like Maxiell.
But IF Johnson plays any kind of decent ball next season and Daye is too busy trying to gain weight in order to even play I'll fucking go nuclear.
Why draft a dude that's 2 or 3 years away?
Is his ceiling higher than Johnson's?
Are his skills "better" than Johnson's?
Is Daye more mentally tough?
Is Daye more driven?
Jonas seems intriguing. We'll see how well his game translates to the NBA.
I'm surprised we didn't draft some kind of project C, or perhaps Goran Suton, with that last 2nd rounder.
Just thought I'd point this out while I played catchup. We could have had both of them, right?Quote:

Budinger is a natural 2, so he really didn't fit here unless we were planning to deal Rip and not sign Gordon.
That jumper would have been really nice, though. He would have been a fun player to watch here.
About Blair. YepQuote:
