Yes. Yes they are.
Bye now!

The Spurs are done, you guys.
Start the Lakers and/or Celtics thread, please.

How is convincing Jefferson to opt out so they could re-sign him (and save some short-term cash) working out?
DaJuan Blair M.I.A.?
Height challenged, so Splitter got his minutes (to no avail).

Parker says that age has finally caught up with the Spurs. "At the start of the season I said this was our last chance," he said. "Tim and Gino (Manu Ginobili) are getting old. It's going to be tough to regenerate ourselves. "We will always have a good team but we can no longer say that we're playing for a championship." FIBA.com
Associated Press headline:
"Parker backs off comments that Spurs are done"
Spurs coach Gregg Popovich has some interesting comments about Tony Parker’s recent criticism to the French media about the team’s chances of winning a championship with its current roster. Popovich told KMOL-TV sports director Don Harris that he doesn’t think much about Parker’s thoughts about his team’s composition. “You think I care what Tony Parker says?” Popovich told Harris in the snippet from the interview, which is available here. “You think Tony Parker is gonna coach when he quits? Why would I listen to Tony Parker?” San Antonio Express-News
When reminded by Harris that Parker already owns a team in France, Popovich went further. “He can own but he can’t coach,” Popovich said. “Get your –– out there and play, Tony. Tie the score. But talk about basketball, I don’t need Tony for that.” San Antonio Express-News
Adrian Woj reporting that Spurs are talking to Raptors (#5) and Kings (#7) about Tony Parker, lol.
Was Brent Barry still a Spur when TP and Mrs. Barry started doing their hot talk thing?
Spurs’ Attempt to Trade Tony Parker, Richard Jefferson Futile
So they went through all of the trouble of getting RJ to opt out last year so they could lock him up long-term (and save some immediate short-term cash) and this week they tried to slip him in as a poison pill in Parker trades to no avail.
I would be critical of this, but the vaunted Spurs front office is beyond reproach.
I don't know about "rebuilding their forward position in one night". That's some big talk for a couple guys in a poor draft class. Not to mention the fact that what the Spurs need is some low post power now that Duncan is dying. Not more wings to make up for signing Jefferson.
Who's gonna take TWO big contracts before the CBA?
DUNcan realizes it.

Most contenders do.
I realise that it's hard to break up a winning core but in the best interests of the Franchise it must be done at some point.
Better to do it when you can get the most value for your stars rather than do it when it's too late.
How much value does Manu have around the league now? How much value does Jefferson have?
Duncan has earned the right to retire a Spur if he chooses... but he also deserves the right to challenge for another title before he retires. Do the Spurs trade Parker in an effort to improve? Do they trade Blair or Splitter?
I think they've reached the point that it doesn't matter what they do.... they will not be contenders while they have Duncan. He had a great run
RJ was their greatest mistake. Every year that RJ is on their team is an opportunity for RJ to suck in the playoffs.
At the moment, the Spurs are 33-14, first in their division, and just won a game where Tim Duncan literally got a "DNP-Old".
DONE.
Gla now gets DNW - Olds
Did Not Watch
DNW - BW3
Yeah. That makes a lot of sense.
I am pretty impressed how good this old Spurs team really is, they now won like 20 in a row, they are hot at the right time, not even the new shiny stars from OKC can stop them. Spurs management proved once again they are fricking great, obviously they need their old stars healthy and ready to go, but Spurs got a good supporting cast around them, and they delivered so far in the playoffs. It would be too sweet if another old ass veteran team would bet BronBron & the Heat in the finals, again.

@PriscoCBS
So the Spurs are beatable. Looked slow tonight.

It is bananas down here in OKC -- my first time in this place. And SA's suddenly looking old isn't gonna quiet these folks down one bit.

@RealSkipBayless
Tim Duncan looked so revitalized this season - till last 2 games. Looks slow, tentative, awkward, trying dumb shots, wimping out at rim.

Gotta watch the rest of this game and see if San Antonio has just hit a wall! They suddenly look old, tired and immobile. Let's see.
