Yeah, Affleck was miscast, I agree. The worst miscasting is what happened in the spinoff movie Elektra, though. Terence Stamp as a Brit Stick? Goran whatshisname as some accented blandyboy with some blandygirl daughter? And who was supposed to be Typhoid Mary? That whole movie was fucked up unless you have a Jennifer Garner fetish, but the supporting casting was notably fucked.

Yea it was directed by the same guy i think. This time he didnt have a decent script to save his horrible visions of who should play what. The only casting moves i liked ever was his casting of colin farrel as Bullseye and casting Michael Duncan Clarke as the Kingpin. Clarke somehow made it work for me. But outside of that, he should never have input on the story or the casting ever again.

I honestly think Daredevil was good enough to get a sequel w/o Affleck and garner. Maybe some prequel type thing. Either way Affleck needs to be in less and less movies. His buddy Matt Damon is outshining him by light Years.

Also stars Val "I'm your Huckleberry" Kilmer, Jim"The Passion" Caviezel, and some Light skin chick that looks a little like halle berry, though its not her. The trailer looks interesting.

Not the same guy. It was done by <clickety click on IMDB> Rob Bowman, who did Reign Of Fire before (which was mostly entertaining as long as you checked your brain at the door). At the time, I remember hoping it wasn't the same dude as Daredevil, and that it'd come out cooler. For the first few minutes, Elektra wasn't bad, which just made the rest of the movie shittier.

Having seen him play a Kingpin-like character in Galactica, I think Bill Duke would've pulled that off even better than Clarke:

Yeah, Matt Damon or a lot of other actors would've made a better Daredevil. But, Affleck's gotten some decent reviews for Hollywoodland. I don't think he's a bad actor, but they've tried to spin him as a "leading man opening a megabucks movie" sort, and that doesn't work for him.

I heard Affleck had enough nerve to diss the Daredevil Franchise. Also i enjoyed reign of fire for popcorn value.

Affleck isnt the worst actor. But he isnt a good actor either. If the daredevil sequel woulda featured him or garner, then i'm glad its on the shelf. They are what kept it from blowing up IMO.

Stuff that popped in from Netflix of late:

Lucky Number Slevin: I didn't really know much of anything about the movie beforehand, and rented it on the theory it'd be hard to go wrong with Morgan Freeman, Bruce Willis, -and- Ben Kingsley as antagonists. So, I was surprised that there were twists, and surprised that I caught onto them. I'll go out on a limb and say the twists were predictable. It was entertaining, though, and a fine rental that makes me want to check out the director's other movies. Oh, and U-Michigan's own Lucy Liu just gets more attractive with age...

My Chauffeur: This is a quirky '80s movie starting cutie Deborah Foreman ("can you hammer a six inch,. She lights up the room in damn near every scene she's in as this charming wacky female chauffeur amidst a bunch of mostly-snooty male chauffeurs, taking around interesting rich passengers. It's notable as the debut of Penn and Teller to the screen, though they're only in one too-long a scene. I love the so-called "punk" rocker and the autocratic management style of Flash Gordon, though, and it's highly enjoyable if you're up for good light and fluffy. Unfortunately, the actual DVD quality (from Rhino) sucks donkey balls, worse than the VHS copy I owned. There's a newer release recently (paired up with My Tutor -- woohoo!) that is said to be a much better transfer, which is why I had rented it.

movie was very much average. predictable plot, so-so performances, and a decent action scenes. i just can't take aston kutcher as a serious actor. after every line, i expect him to blurt out laughing and punch fez in teh arm. everything was pretty much the same formula you've seen. teacher vs mentor. old veteran vs young hot shot. i'd give the movie a C+.

Good? Yes. It was well-done pleasant entertainment. Jon Voight did a fine job with the complexities of Rupp, in particular.

Amazing? I think that's a -little- stretch. Maybe it's because I knew some of the history long before the movie was made, but I wasn't slack-jawed.

I think it would've playey "great" if they lightened up on the Coach Cartery fairy tale angle and did it as a tale of two great coaches and teams, showing the aftermath of that game as much as the build-up. There wasn't talk of the protests that came after, the blacks who called their team a bunch of Uncle Toms after winning the championship. They don't mention how the reporters tried to downplay the event. That Kentucky team that Haskins' black lineup at UTEP beat was Rupp's Runts, interesting in their own right. Even by the standard of the day, they were short, with no starter over 6'5". (The movie shows Pat Riley playing C!) They had been as unstoppable as Haskins UTEP team and hype-wise were kinda like the Fab Five. But, after they lost to the black lineup, they lost their will to win, playing .500 ball the next season, Rupp's worst.

But, my constructive criticism aside, it's worth a rental. :)

Two things:

Robert Downey Jr will be playing Iron Man. Don't know if thats a good or bad thing. But he is a good actor, so hopefully that will pay off.

The New Trailer for the movie adaptation of Frank Miller's graphic novel 300 has hit, and my goodness its pretty cold. Here's the link. Didn't want to set up direct link because of the dial up users on here. It looks pretty cold. Alot like a Movie Comic with the backgrounds and lighting. Kudos to Frank Miller, because the movies are getting made in a way for him to be cool with his license being handed out to WB.
