Objective Review: 5.6/10
Personal Review: 9.5/10
That's pretty much how everyone feels about that movie. Everyone loves it but everyone realizes it wasn't that great of a movie. Its great to us, but from a cinematic point of view, not so much.Quote:

I don't know what Cormac McCarthy, or the Coen Brothers, are trying to prove. Maybe that the really, really BAD guys who just don't give a fuck can win out if they just set about doing it?
Are they trying to prove that the Good Guys don't stand a chance, and just keep their heads above water until they retire and then die of boredom? Maybe he's trying to show that the Good Guys just lack the guts to win. That they are really close, and there are more than a few of them, but they are somehow not going to get it done. And then one day they wake up and they're too old for this shit.
Trouble is, they're too old for anything else.
You essentially just covered the whole movie. I enjoyed it though. It was worth going to the theaters for, since i had free movie passes.
Saw Duel To The Death over the weekend -- Saturday morning chop-socky fare. Set sometime pre-20th century, a Chinese and Japanese dude are to battle to see who has the superior style. The people around them (ninjas, a shamed Shaolin school) orchestrating the fight are trying to rig the fight, but the two main dudes want a fair fight. So they beat the fight riggers, then... a bitter end. It's pretty entertaining.
I watched "Stick It" last night.
For those that may not know who she is Missy Perigrym is hot as shit. Shes in a show on the WB called Reaper. A quick IMDB search yielded this movie she did a while back.
Basically shes a rebellious gymnast who returns to "stick it" to the man.
Too bad I cant "stick it" to her.
Is that a gallon of vaseline on her tummy, the remnants of a nice long night of being pounded in the ass?
Not to brag or anything, but yes.
I watched Blood Car over the weekend as well. Gas prices are $30+/gallon. A young vegan inventor discovers that he can use blood as an alternative fuel, then goes psycho killing people. There's exceedingly-archetypical "good girl" and "bad girl" cuties that want him, one because he has a car, the other because of his nerdy vegan body. And the government is involved. It's an indie film. I'm not exactly sure if I liked it or not, but it's definitely interesting. If you're looking for something "different" that's still mostly understandable and not a lot of pretentious crap, you could do worse. I think it would have worked better as almost a stage play or something, and I'd love to see the title recirculated for a straight-up "alternative fuel horror movie".
I wish I knew where to find these not-so-well known movies talked about on here. The local Blockbuster usually doesn't have that stuff.
I watched Dan in Real Life at the dollar shows. It was pretty good (worth a rental). I expected it to be a regular comedy, but it was kindof a drama/comedy mix. Funny enough for the guys and sappy enough for your lady.
I pay Netflix $ to be my friend. I look for the new weekly releases.Quote:

Of course you can have them longer, but to maximize your money that's pretty fast turnaround.
It worked very well when I wanted to see shows that have lots of discs. I started watching 24 at the beginning of season 4, so I watched the first 3 seasons thru netflix pretty quickly.
Once I get a new job, I'll look into that.
I have not seen it nor do I expect to, but is there a movie that looks worse than "One Missed Call?"
I think most movies look awful nowadays, but that one looks amazingly bad.
^^I tend to agree.
I'm with you guys. Just some stupid crap being put out these days, and that one looks even worse than usual.
I felt the same way about My Super Ex-Girlfriend.
a fairly new movie i loved was city of god. seriously, 5 stars. i avoided this cuz i knew the subtitles would be a problem, and they were (talking was real fast, so i missed a ton of the reading, plus i did more reading than watching) but this movie is a must see.
Juno was good shit. Toward the beginning, I was worried it was just going to be a female Napoleon Dynamite, but those worries quickly vanished. Good writing and a very strong cast.
Everyone I talk to says I should see this movie. Subtitles don't bother me.Quote:

I finally saw the Fantastic Four: Rise Of The Silver Surfer finally. I wanted something vapid and disposable after last night's Knicks debacle, and this fit the bill. With the exception of Chiklis, every other major actor is miscast, the story is broken in a bunch of ways, and its only redeeming features involve Alba in skintight gear and special effects. The fact that it's twice as better as the original just makes it less bad.
Spot on about the casting. I had fun with this movie as long as I pretended it existed in a vacuum and didn't compare it to the comics or other comic book movies.Quote:

In this movie, you feel awful for Kevin Bacon as his son dies, and then as worse things happen to his family. His transformation from executive into vengeful father is great at first, as more bad things happen to him. However, the movie starts to drag on a little bit and it almost seems like a different movie near the end. I still enjoyed it, but I give it a 6.5/10.
The Heartbreak Kid: A typical Farrelly Brothers movie, where you laugh out loud a couple of times, and you get so grossed out/uncomfortable a couple of times you have to laugh. It was funny, but not exactly a good movie. 5/10, typical Ben Stiller.
Reason I'm not watching Rambo: that fucking "Bodies" song that's in the previews. Not only does it suck, but IT'S FUCKING OLD. STOP PLAYING THAT FUCKING SONG EVERYWHERE!!!
Agree - that seriously is one of the worst songs of all time.
The lead singer died shortly thereafter.
Then they can't make a sequel. Good.
Sequal songs are a bad idea.
See Metallica.
Actually, they got a new singer and they're still pumping out albums.
The new Rambo movie is being released in January -- rarely a good sign.
Anyone see There Will Be Blood?

IMDB gave it like a 9.0, so maybe I don't need to know if anyone else saw it.Quote:
