Over the weekend, I saw Flyboys which is the new movie about WWI and the Americans who volunteered to join the French in creating an Air Force and being the first American pilots to fight in the war prior to US involvement in WWI.
Considering the lack of movies on WWI in general, I thought it was a very good movie. It isn't a classic like Saving Private Ryan, Great Escape, All Quiet on the Western Front, but it was entertaining nevertheless.
yeah i dont pay full price for theater movies much ($1.50 guy) but damn, gonna have to check that out. every time i see that commercial it makes me want to practice my stuff, and jet uses that (forgive me for not knowing weapon names) 3-segment stick weapon which has always intrigued me.Quote:

The Rock tells a kid he needs to forgive his dad and it will take time. The kid asked how long it took him to forgive his dad. The Rock, after (literally) 15-20 seconds of face twitching, attempting to tear up, says "Until just now." I busted out laughing in the theater.
Saw Illusionist two weekends ago. Don't see it. Don't rent it. Don't go to the theatre and watch it. If it comes on TV, turn it off. I sat outside the theatre that my buddy and I saw it in and we talked for like 35 minutes about how many levels the movie sucked on. I'd list some of them but there's just no point. No one should watch this movie.
So you're saying go see the illusionist? ok.....

Yeah, I had actually never heard of the Illusionist before going and my buddy was debating on whether he wanted to see it or if he wanted to debate in a couple weeks spending 15 bucks on "magician movies" should he want to go see The Prestige in the future. Since we had narrowed down the choice that night to this or Hollywood Land, I decided I didn't want to watch Ben Affleck, even if he is supposed to be good in that flick.
Yes, ben affleck messed up daredevil, i thought him and his woman sucked in that. Elektra had sexy exotic look like this

But illusionist looked crappy from the jump for me. Jessica biel isnt good at attaching herself to good movies most times. Prestige looks a lil' more real deal with a cast and director i like. So i'll definately check it out.
Have you seen the R-rated director's cut of Daredevil? The consensus of the reviews I've seen is that it's WAY different and better, and Affleck comes off decently. They had to cut it severely and change significant plot points for PG-13/marketing reasons:

I've been meaning to see it at some point, just haven't gotten around to it and it's not yet on Netflix.
And FWIW, I think I would've cast Eliza Dushku as Elektra.
I own the directors cut. It is slightly better. But i like the original too. Its the acting that sucks. Affleck and garner don't look the parts either. More so garner. I dont know about eliza, might not be tone enough, but she's pretty though. I woulda rather seen a newcomer get the role who looks closer to the comic look.Quote:

Also i saw Miami Vice recently at the dollar show and i give it a 9/10. It was the second best movie i've seen this year. Micheal mann is in a zone with the crime drama/action movies.

Yeah, Affleck was miscast, I agree. The worst miscasting is what happened in the spinoff movie Elektra, though. Terence Stamp as a Brit Stick? Goran whatshisname as some accented blandyboy with some blandygirl daughter? And who was supposed to be Typhoid Mary? That whole movie was fucked up unless you have a Jennifer Garner fetish, but the supporting casting was notably fucked.
