I thought the Simpsons movie was a lil weak compared to the show, even if has dropped off but not for 7-8 years.

LaBeouf Announces New Indy Title at VMAs
Sept. 10, 2007, 1:24 PM EST
The title of the new "Indiana Jones" movie, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Harrison Ford, has been revealed.
"Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" will be in theaters May 22, 2008.
The title of the long-awaited fourth installment of the adventure series was announced by Shia LaBeouf, who co-stars with Ford in the film, at the MTV Video Music Awards in Las Vegas on Sunday.
The new Indy adventure, which is set in the 1950s, also stars Cate Blanchett, Ray Winstone, John Hurt, Jim Broadbent and Karen Allen.
Sean Connery, who played dad to Ford's globe-trotting archaeologist in 1989's "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade," will not reprise the role in the new movie.
The series began in 1981 with "Raiders of the Lost Ark," followed by "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" in 1984.
In promotional photos, the 65-year-old Ford appears fit as ever.
"I have to say, he looks amazing," Kathleen Kennedy, the film's co-executive producer, along with George Lucas, told The Associated Press in July. "He looks fantastic in the outfit."
Please tell me LaBeouf plays short round......
3:10 to Yuma.......not as good as I had hoped. I just didn't buy Crowe being a bad guy. I'll give this movie a "fairly good" rating.
Last Crusade was made in the 80s? Wow.
Go see Big Bad Swim.
No, it's not T&A on the beach like the DVD cover implies (though the lead actresses are hotties in my book).
Yes, it's an excellent charming little indie dramedy.
Saw the Hitcher the other day. Not really a scary movie, just some psycho motherfucker trying to kill 2 people on the road. Fucking overused plot. It was a little suspensful, girl was hot, but shit ending...
I also saw disturbia finally. The trailer showed most of the suspenseful parts imo, which in the end, didn't scare me at all. Also, fucking shit end to it.
Master Of The Flying Guillotine is a FUCKING KICK-ASS movie for anyone who appreciates classic kung fu movies! I hadn't seen it in 20-25 years until about a week ago, and it was like "ahhh, THIS is what must-see TV is all about". The old bad guy with the flying guillotine wearing the swastika -- awesome!
Another movie worth seeing just to hear kick-ass little stories is Champion, pretty much Danny Trejo's autobiography. The editing is a little amateur and spotty, but basically whenever Danny talks, it's all good:

Lucky you, good poker movie. I thought it was pretty deep and it wasn't some pointless shit.
Kovak Box sucked. I saw a decent premise and 6 stars with a few hundred reviewers on IMDB and figured I'd give it a rental. Bad people put a chip in people's heads that makes them suicidal when a song called "Gloomy Sunday" is played, based off a story by a science fiction writer (played laconically by Timothy Hutton) who's co-opted into doing the biography of the evil weird genius who did this. The premise was good, but the execution sucks.
Air Guitar Nation is awesome. Imagine a Christopher Guest mockumentary, then imagine the participants are not mocking actors, but actual entrants in the Air Guitar world championships in Finland, and just be awed. Sure, it's a little cheesy, but it's a whole lot of fun. Watching it makes me want to play real guitar, which is weird because apart from some simple bar chords (Louie, Louie), I can't play and don't own a guitar. Highly recommended.
1408 anyone?
Its gotta be worth the rental price, right?

Really. It looks good or a good concept and good actors. Thanks.
I suppose it would help too if I pointed out that I've never really liked Stephen King other than the movie 'Pet Semetary' and one book, can't remember what it's called. So I'm probably a bit jaded when it comes to his stuff.
I saw this movie called 'Sunshine' a couple nights ago. Eh. The whole premise is stupid... in the future the sun is dying so a group of people fly a huge bomb that is designed to detonate in the middle of the sun to restart it. If you know anything about stars, and our sun, you know that the Earth will be burned up long before the sun starts to die. Even if you brush that aside and pretend that it could happen that way the movie isn't too great.
Its was weak. Ok to watch if you dont expect much.Quote:

Good shit with a very predictable and fucking fantastic ending. The first half of the movie is fucknig boring but it gets good later towards the end. Almost cried too...fucking Bruce.
Don't EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER EVER make a deal with your wife or girlfriend that involves watching "Georgia Rule"

Rented Blades of Glory. Piece of shit.

The beginning and end seemed ok, but of course the only reason I got to the end was I sat through half the movie and couldn't keep focused, even when topless nekkid chicks were engaged.
It started out pretty awesomely, but lost it down the stretch. Even Queen's Flash Gordon music couldn't save it.Quote:

That's what happens when you get 3 guys together that want to go see an action flick, then one of them decides to invite a girl along that he wants to get with and lets her pick the movie.
'Planet Terror'. Fucking awesome. Dont have much more to say than that.
'Wrong Turn 2'. Now I knew this was going to be bad, but I thought it wouldn't be a complete waste of my time. It was.
Rush hour 3 was a complete disappointment. I heard the horrible reviews and yes it wasn't that good. All good thigns must come to an end,
Watched "The Good Shepherd" over the past three nights (about an hour a night, it's long).
If you are sharp with your history, which I am not, it's probably more interesting. For an overtired, non "history of the CIA" buff, it was a little complicated at times.
I thought Matt Damon did a nice job, but they did a poor job of creating enough of a difference in his appearance when they kept jumping from the 1930's to the 1960's. He looked pretty much the same over that time period (as did Jolie), which added to the confusion for me. It was odd to see him playing the father of a 19-20 year old that could have passed for his younger brother.
Deniro directed it and has a bit part, but I was hoping for more Bobby and more Alec Baldwin and less, um, people I don't know.
I agree Glenn. It was long and slow and the main character's isolated nature that alienated him from his wife and his son didn't help the audience (i.e. me) attach to him.
Just watched 'Mighty Ducks' on Encore, I saw it like 10 years ago when I was 9, but Emilio Estavez is still probably the only guy that can pull off the role of a pee-wee hockey coach...
Gotta love Goldberg too
I finally got around to watching Slither.
It's not insanely great. It's not super-funny (though some of the DVD extras are a hoot). It's only scary if you find, say, the effects of the movie Men In Black scary. It's not about snakes, or anything terrestrial for that matter. But, if you want an enjoyable "check your brain at the door for an hour and a half and eat popcorn" kind of film, this will do quite nicely.
just saw the movie running scared
so the movie wasn't too bad, the action was fucking good and Paul WAlker acts better here than in the fast and the furious.
"Boewulf" comes out today. The review in my newspaper said something about nudity.
Could it possibly be?

It wouldn't be her first time.
Jolie nude???? I doubt you'll get any results if you type that into Yahoo! search.
But I'll probably see Beowulf, just because I'm an English major and read that damn poem at least 15 times.
Not a new movie, but might be new to some. The History of the World Part 1. A 1981 Mel Brooks movie, that had me laughing...again. I forgot all about this movie.
I rented "Asoka" this weekend. It's one of those Indian Bollywood movies.
Asoka (pronounced "ashook") is a national hero to Indians, an important figure in world history and religion. He ruled an empire that ran from Afghanistan to Bangladesh, from Nepal to Sri Lanka. He's very important to the spread of Buddhism throughout the world.
But the movie...yechh. It's the all-singing, all-dancing version of Indian history, and it sucked pretty bad. Bollywood can't do anything seriously. They insist on turning everything into a romantic comedy-slash-musical (but no kissing, or else there will be riots). It alternates between bloody violence and musical numbers with mid-song wardrobe changes. 3 out of 10.
The wife wanted to watch the new remake of "Hairspray" tonight and I wanted football.
You can guess who won.
We'll be watching Hairspray tomorrow afternoon (well, she'll be watching I'll be staring at the wall), hopefully not when the Pistons are on.
This may have backfired.
Wait, are there any hot chicks in Hairspray?
The lead in the movie:Quote:

So... in answer to your question.......... yes.
I saw The Last King Of Scotland recently. It's more-or-less the real storyline of Idi Amin, mixed in with a mostly-fictional story of his idiot Scottish doctor.
Forest Whitaker is awesome as Idi Amin. His powerful performance alone is worth the rental! James McAvoy was serviceable as the naive doctor thinking with his dick in over his head. The rookie director did lots of good things. But, the plot didn't hold me quite as much. While the fictional aspects were intended to portray realistic things that could have happened, I kept getting this "no way could the doctor be this fucking stupid" vibe I couldn't shake. He should've been dead with how dumb he was. But, it gets a thumbs-up from me. Oh, bonus points for Gillian Anderson as the hot weathered British doctor.
Last King of Scotland... saw it a while ago, anyway I pretty much agree. Above-average movie worth seeing just for Whitaker's performance, gave me chills watching him at some points.
If anybody sees 'No Country for Old Men' I wanna know how it is... also 'I Am Legend' looks like it has potential whenever it comes out.
I've seen two movies recently, neither were too great. 'Smiley Face', starring Anna Faris and directed by Gregg Araki (The Doom Generation) is about the most retarded stoner ever and her quest for money to pay the debt to her weed dealer. Bleh. 'PU-239', about a guy in Russia who steals plutonium to sell on the black market. Could have been good, and good timing to scare us all considering the turmoil in Pakistan and some people speculating that their nuclear arsenal could be mishandled but unfortunately the movie was just poorly executed IMO. Bleh again.
I'd hoped it'd be more of a straight remake of The Last Man On Earth (Vincent Price at his best) or the original story. Will Smith seems as wrong for this as he was for "I, Robot". At least he's doing big screen sci-fi which is rare these days.Quote:

I'll be seeing that soon.
I'm going to see Hitman today. I'll give you all an update after I get back.
Saw Beowulf a few days ago. It was alright. My friend and I did our own commentary throughout the movie, made it quite a bit more entertaining, but still it was pretty good. It was nice to see a 'hero' who wasn't one of those "I'm just doing my duty" kind of guys. Beowulf is 100% all about the glory and he lets you know it. Whenever he kills something he makes sure to scream his own name. Overall, good storyline, decent action, just wish it wasn't all computer animation. Seeing it in 3-D was pretty sweet though.
