Why would Phoenix do that deal?
They will ask for more than just 2 expiring contracts, probably a 1st round pick or a toss-in like Afflalo.
That trade doesn't put them in a position to win a title, either.
If Shaq's really on the block, as I've heard people claim on MLive (hey, at least it's not HoopsHype...), I vote AI for Shaq. Rip gets to start again, Rasheed doesn't have to guard the other team's post bruiser, and we still get a shot at Bosh down the road. Thoughts?

People need to realize that wherever amare goes it's going to be a deal based on money, and not talent.
Considering Phoenix has traded their first rounders for NOTHING in recent years, I doubt they even ask for that in return.

Sheed/Amir/Afflalo/unprotected 2010 1st round draft pick
for
Stoudemire/Barbosa
Saves Phoenix $2.5 million this season and $18 million next season. Plus it gives them a 2010 draft pick they traded in the Kurt Thomas giveaway.
I think they'd prefer Iverson to sheed/amir afflao. A lot less salary involved.

That's 53.5 mil without Amare. We'd also need at least one more big man (lets assume MLE). That's another 6 mil. So we are up to about 60 mil. Throw in a few draft picks and you have another 2.5-3 mil at least. So 63 million prior to Amare. He's going to make at least 15 mil a season starting. We'd probably go over the tax level by a few million to sign him. Would they do that?
They'd also have to let Amir walk (or trade him for a pick and expiring deal next year). Or you could count Amir as your third big at the MLE.
Not to mention you'd see more small ball. If you get Stuckey, Barbosa, RIP, Tay and J Rich all 33-35 MPG, that's 175 minutes a night. You'd play most of the game (31 minutes) with Tay at PF. So he'd basically be a full time PF.
I'll take on Barbosa's salary to get Amare but not J Rich.
to be clear, I wouldn't do the deal either. I just wanted to see how far people were willing to go.

MILWAUKEE -- Rasheed Wallace says he doesn't want to be traded. But he's a 13-year veteran. He's in the final year of his contract. And the Pistons (26-21) aren't winning as much as they're accustomed to in past years.
