the fuck? the owner was a terrorist?
i heard that they had to raise prices a few years back cuz the owner blew a million dollars at the casino after his son murdered someone, or something of the sort.
now the dude's a terrorrist?
i dont know about that, but i do know lashish had the best homus ive ever had. i used to take my ma there for her birthday. guess i wont be doing that anymore. guess micky D's is cheeper, so thats good.
I'm bummed. I know where else to get good Middle Eastern food, of course, but I liked La Shish. I'm bummed that they couldn't manage to sell it off to someone. Just what Michigan needs... more lost jobs.
As for the charges of terrorism, it depends on whether or not you perceive Hezbollah to be a terrorist organization. The U.S. government does. But, unfortunately, Hezbollah truly does other things besides terrorism. -- hospitals and schools and help for war-torn families. There was more than enough to put the owner away on other charges (bribery and tax evasion, IIRC) quite apart from the terrorism angle.
I really liked La Shish, it was one of the only places where you could get Middle Eastern food and wash it down with a glass of wine.
when i went to school in detroit, during the war between lebanon and israel, some of the students had familly back in lebanon.
i'll tell you what, not that i was all that knowledgeable about the war, but based on conversations i had with some of those students (not all that long of conversations, like 5 minutes), im not 100% sure the american media presented a fair and balanced depiction of what was going on.
to be blunt, yea, it was a nice snapshot in american propoganda. when you live it, its hard to remember its there, sometimes.
dont get me wrong, this isnt a "jews run the media/ undue influence" thing. though there probably is truth in that. im sure this is true of coverage of all wars. coverage being painfully one sided.
oh yea, and unbelievable that la shish couldnt have been sold.
