Rondo was putting triple doubles and near trip dubs when the games mattered most last year, so locking him up makes sense to me.
If he didn't have a 10 cent head, he could be really special.
He takes a lot of shit, justifiably so in some cases, but Ainge's drafts, trades and signings over the past 3-4 years are pretty impressive, imo. McHale gets some credit for that, but not all.
Also, the Celts probably thought that being part of the '10 free agent class would have helped Rondo get a bigger offer than this, especially if the top tier stars all stay put with their teams. Those 7+ teams that Stein wrote about last week with mucho cap room will probably spend some/all of it somehow, and a young, true point guard is a valuable commodity.
Dude, are you Rondo's agent or something?
No, but I watched him play in the playoffs last year and he's legit, IMO.
There also have been a lot of trade rumors about him, and maybe teams were telling the Celtics that they wouldn't pull the trigger because he wasn't locked up.
I like Rondo. Makes the occasional boneheaded play, but who doesn't.
New salary aside, is there anybody here that wouldn't trade Stuckey for Rondo?

The first 4 games of this year might have a little something to do with that extension, too. I knew he was playing well, but Jesus Christ. 56% from the floor and check out the dimes (and the assists, right Steph?) http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/...H1fNgdAZ1nPaB4
