50 Cent: I'll quit if outsold by West (http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070810/ap_en_mu/people50_cent)

NEW YORK - 50 Cent believes his new album will outsell Kanye West's upcoming disc, and he's betting his solo career on it. Both 50 Cent and West have albums due out Sept. 11. 50 Cent, who has sold better than West, has been riled by forecasts that sales of West's "Graduation" could rival those for his "Curtis" CD.

"Let's raise the stakes," the 31-year-old rapper told hip-hop Web site SOHH.com in an interview posted Friday. "If Kanye West sells more records than 50 Cent on September 11, I'll no longer write music. I'll write music and work with my other artists, but I won't put out anymore solo albums."
An e-mail sent to West's publicist wasn't immediately returned Friday.
50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, has been publicly disparaging of West before. In 2005, he suggested the 29-year-old rapper's popularity was only possible because of 50's own success.
But they recently collaborated in the studio. Their work, though, isn't scheduled to appear on either new album.
50 Cent's last full-length solo album, "The Massacre," was the best-selling disc of 2005 and sold more than 1.14 million copies in its first week of release. The same year, West's "Late Registration" opened by selling more than 860,000 copies in its first week.
Timone 08-11-2007, 05:58 PM I don't like either of them, but GO KANYE!!
Tahoe 08-11-2007, 06:32 PM I'd take 50 any day over that pos Kanye.
Timone 08-11-2007, 06:47 PM Gimme Nas over both of them. Maybe even Mother Goose.
I like 50 better. Despite his track record of selling more albums Kanye really caught a lot of fans with 'Gold Digger'. It was more of a crossover track than anything 50 ever put out IMO. If they could somehow track the demographics of who is buying the records, and 50 said 'Hip hop and rap fans' then he wins hands down... but I think a lot of people who are more musically ignorant MTV-taught fans will be buying that Kanye up.
Cross 08-11-2007, 10:52 PM kanye'snew album is looking really good right now. I wouldn't say Kanye is shit but much better than 50, who's had a few good songs as well.
In the end, Kanye wins.
defrocked 08-12-2007, 12:16 AM Bitches, please. Kanye owns Fitty.
Hermy 08-12-2007, 09:43 AM Bitches, please. Kanye owns Fitty.
No shit, what an awful thread.
DrRay11 08-12-2007, 10:12 AM Agreed. I despise 50 cent so... go Kanye!
BubblesTheLion 08-12-2007, 03:22 PM Everyone here should by 3 copies of Graduation.
It's your duty to Music - end 50 Cent.
I don't care if you like West or not, this is for humanity!
Big Swami 08-12-2007, 05:09 PM Let's make a deal that pleases everyone: 50 Cent can stop making records until he gets shot again. Kanye can keep making records as long as they're someone else's records. I love Kanye's music, but he's Frankenstein on the mic.
Wilfredo Ledezma 08-12-2007, 06:17 PM As much as I love Kanye West, 50's Album will absolutely SLAUGHTER Kanye's...
No Contest.

I'm not detecting any sarcasm today:emo kid:

Usually it boils down to who has more "white folks" appeal, and that just makes this one harder to judge. Drunk housewives who go out dancing like 50 Cent, but old men and college kids love Kanye. It's a toss-up.
Cross 08-15-2007, 08:12 AM I think it comes down to how many middle schoolers who want to act gangster like 50 more than Kanye. When songs like 21 questions and...in da club came out, Rock wasn't as big as it is today. 50's going to lose alot of the rock supporters and is left with a small fanbase.
I guess it would be safe to say that 50 has better clubbing music. You won't be hearing much of Jesus Walks in clubs. However, for just some casual shit when you're going to work or school, Kanye is much more suitable here,.
geerussell 08-15-2007, 10:35 AM At least a rapper finally came up with a publicity stunt that doesn't involve bullets. Progress.

MoTown 08-15-2007, 11:59 AM RIP Mr. Perfect. Looks like Rap got the last laugh.
Uncle Mxy 08-19-2007, 06:10 PM Earlier this morning, I was watching something on Forbes top 20 hiphop stars, where #20 started out making something like $10 million/year and it went up from there. Da-yum!

Zip Goshboots 08-19-2007, 10:56 PM Not many people know about "Mr. Dinsmore", the famous Rooster of Yazoo City, Mississippi. He seems to have special powers, which enable him to fairly innaccurately predict the winners of championship games. For instance, he has picked 4 of the last 22 Super Bowl winners, 2 of the last 13 NBA championship series winners, 9 of the last 16 baseball World Series winners, and 3 of the last 47 NASCAR race winners.
Well, Mr Dinsmore was asked to sum up who he thought would win this epic battle of rap divas, and he chose Kanye West. When asked about his choice, Mr Dinsmore said, "Kanye's muvver is a fine ass bitch".
Moodini31 08-20-2007, 02:36 AM I'm more of a fan of 50, but I think Kanye will outsell him. The Massacre didn't turn out the way 50 wanted it to and Kanye has some momentum coming off of Late Registration. I think Kanyeezie wins and 50 doesn't retire.
Cue Captian Obvious.
Ive heard both albums now. I think they both kinda suck. Each album has two songs that I might put on a mix cd. Kanye's album has by far the best song. Both albums are mostly slow almost RnB songs, nothing that rocks at all. If I had to pick one Id say the 50 album, but I would want my money back for either album. If you like the slow RnB type rap, rap you can make love to, then you might like these albums but as for me I give a double thumbs down.
Black Dynamite 09-06-2007, 03:57 PM Both albums are mostly slow almost RnB songs,
Sounds like they'll both do well then in the main stream market.
