View Full Version : Jason Grilli... Jmich24 07-25-2007, 10:35 PM Why is the bum in the Majors? MoTown 07-25-2007, 11:00 PM Quick fun fact: Did you know that Grilli was the 4th pick in the 1997 draft? That was the same year we drafted Matt Anderson #1. 1 Matt Anderson / P / Tigers / Rice University 2 J.D. Drew / OF / Phillies / Florida State University 3 Troy Glaus / 3B-P / Angels / UCLA 4 Jason Grilli / P / Giants / Seton Hall University 5 Vernon Wells / OF / Blue Jays / Bowie HS (Arlington,TX) 6 Geoff Goetz / P / Mets / Jesuit HS (Tampa,FL) 7 Dan Reichert / P / Royals / University of the Pacific 8 J.J. Davis / OF / Pirates / Baldwin Park HS (Pomona,CA) 9 Michael Cuddyer / SS-P / Twins / Great Bridge HS (Chesapeake,VA) 10 Jon Garland / P / Cubs / Kennedy HS (Granada Hills,CA) 11 Chris Enochs / P / Athletics / West Virginia University 12 Aaron Akin / P / Marlins / Cowley County Community College 13 Kyle Peterson / P / Brewers / Stanford University 14 Brandon Larson / SS / Reds / Louisiana State University 15 Jason Dellaero / SS-P / White Sox / University of South Florida 16 Lance Berkman / 1B / Astros / Rice University 17 John Curtice / P / Red Sox / Great Bridge HS (Chesapeake,VA) 18 Mark Mangum / P / Rockies / Kingwood HS (TX) 19 Ryan Anderson / P / Mariners / Divine Child HS (Westland,MI) 20 Adam Kennedy / SS / Cardinals / Cal State Northridge University We could have had Grilli in '97! Damnit! RegicideGreg 07-26-2007, 01:14 AM He is still better than Cornejo. MoTown 07-26-2007, 07:41 AM Take that back... RegicideGreg 07-26-2007, 08:06 AM NEVA!!! MoTown 07-26-2007, 08:08 AM :emo kid: WTFchris 07-26-2007, 10:03 AM He won't be on the team fairly soon. When F-Rod comes back he'll be gone IMO. Jethro34 07-26-2007, 11:13 AM Any chance we could trade him for another PTBNL? WTFchris 07-26-2007, 11:16 AM Doubt it. Only because we'll hold him until we know Rodney is ok. That might be after the deadline. Jmich24 08-07-2007, 09:18 PM How bad is this guy??? Nate's best start of the season, Grilli comes on in the 8th 2 outs four run lead... Yup Grand Slam Home Run! I hope they give this guy away tomarrow. Jethro34 08-07-2007, 09:44 PM Jim Leyland is like a girl that stays in a relationship with an abusive partner. He keeps going back to Grilli even though he knows he's going to get hurt. H1Man 08-07-2007, 09:46 PM Jim Leyland is like a girl that stays in a relationship with an abusive partner. He keeps going back to Grilli even though he knows he's going to get hurt. He does the same with Monroe too. b-diddy 08-07-2007, 11:33 PM bizarre. i could have sworn ryan anderson was a top 3 pick. in fact im almost positive that im right and the internet is wrong on this one. as far as grille, we rip, justifiably. but someone thought he was worth the #4 pick, dave dombroski thought he was worth a roster spot, and jim leyland thinks he's worth a regular appearance in the bullpen. i realize this is like justifying an answer by saying "thats what the smart kids say", but in the grande scheme of things your going to be right more than not with that response. being a tiger fan, its real easy to dump on grille. too easy. and i will not be a slave to fashion. LET THE MAN PITCH! (this post could be moved to the "post here when your drunk" thread by a mod if necessary) WTFchris 08-08-2007, 10:45 AM There's no way he remains on the roster when Kenny/Miller/Zumaya are all back. Who would you cut over him? Zekyl 08-08-2007, 01:22 PM Myself :emo kid: Glenn 08-08-2007, 01:54 PM Grilli just gave up 3 more runs during lunch. Jethro34 08-08-2007, 10:52 PM How sad is it when you can give up a run and two hits over 2 innings of work and it LOWERS your ERA? darkobetterthanmelo 08-09-2007, 01:48 AM Being his myspace friend gives you the perk of receiving this message Just a quick note to all of you. I thank you for being true fans. Those of you who posted comments, I appreciate your loyalty. It was a very rough night last night for me. No one in that ballpark felt worse than I did. I give my all every time out and always will. 162 game schedule and we are nearing the finish line, but there is a lot of race left. Thank you again and hope to see you again sometime soon. Please say hello if you are near the bullpen. Jason Vinny 08-09-2007, 02:09 AM If that bullpen is for the Newark Bears, I will happily say hello. Otherwise, I'll be the one getting escorted out for just throwing a beer on your head at Comerica. No offense, but you just don't belong. In other News, the Natural is on Comcast Free On Demand if anyone wants some uplifting viewing! WTFchris 08-09-2007, 10:44 AM Maybe we should have a thread like this for Craig Monroe. He's batting .220 with 93 strikeouts and is DEAD LAST in on base percentage for outfielders in the majors. And it's not even close either. He's 30 points behind the next closest player! Oh BTW, he also makes 5 mil to do it. At least Grilli is only costing us 375k. Jethro34 08-09-2007, 11:11 AM Yeah, if this team is going to let a guy like Carlos Pena go, they certainly need to be consistant enough to let Craig go as well. He's pissing away a valuable roster spot and I'm ashamed that I've had the audacity in the past to suggest that there were teams in the league who would actually give something up to get him. DrRay11 08-09-2007, 11:17 AM Yeah, fuck Monroe. May as well bring on Maybin/Clevlen--they're probably better than Craig right now. Don't know what happened to ol' C'Mo. Jethro34 08-09-2007, 11:19 AM Make the call for Maybin. I'm betting he at least gets on base and his late season accomplishmetns are reminiscent of a young Andruw Jones. Glenn 08-09-2007, 11:20 AM Don't know what happened to ol' C'Mo. He needs to go back to shoplifting $30 belts from department stores ASAP. WTFchris 08-09-2007, 12:07 PM If I'm pitching to Monroe I throw him 3 straight curve balls outside the plate. He'll strike out every time. I seriously doubt any minor league OF we can call up will be worse than him right now. Thames is supposed to be back tonight anyway, but I suspect Leyland will still use C Mo against lefties because Thames will play 1B and Rayburn will play CF for Granderson. He should keep Casey in there (he's still batting .286 against lefties) and keep Thames at LF. WTFchris 08-17-2007, 01:47 PM I hate to say I told you so, but... Maybe we should have a thread like this for Craig Monroe. He's batting .220 with 93 strikeouts and is DEAD LAST in on base percentage for outfielders in the majors. And it's not even close either. He's 30 points behind the next closest player! Oh BTW, he also makes 5 mil to do it. At least Grilli is only costing us 375k. Timone 08-18-2007, 01:11 AM Monroe was my Tiger last year, but fuck him now. |
