6 Geoff Goetz / P / Mets / Jesuit HS (Tampa,FL)
7 Dan Reichert / P / Royals / University of the Pacific

We could have had Grilli in '97! Damnit!

He is still better than Cornejo.

He won't be on the team fairly soon. When F-Rod comes back he'll be gone IMO.

Any chance we could trade him for another PTBNL?

WTFchris

Doubt it. Only because we'll hold him until we know Rodney is ok. That might be after the deadline.

How bad is this guy??? Nate's best start of the season, Grilli comes on in the 8th 2 outs four run lead... Yup Grand Slam Home Run! I hope they give this guy away tomarrow.

Jim Leyland is like a girl that stays in a relationship with an abusive partner. He keeps going back to Grilli even though he knows he's going to get hurt.

He does the same with Monroe too.

bizarre. i could have sworn ryan anderson was a top 3 pick. in fact im almost positive that im right and the internet is wrong on this one.

as far as grille, we rip, justifiably. but someone thought he was worth the #4 pick, dave dombroski thought he was worth a roster spot, and jim leyland thinks he's worth a regular appearance in the bullpen. i realize this is like justifying an answer by saying "thats what the smart kids say", but in the grande scheme of things your going to be right more than not with that response. being a tiger fan, its real easy to dump on grille. too easy. and i will not be a slave to fashion. LET THE MAN PITCH!

There's no way he remains on the roster when Kenny/Miller/Zumaya are all back. Who would you cut over him?

Grilli just gave up 3 more runs during lunch.

How sad is it when you can give up a run and two hits over 2 innings of work and it LOWERS your ERA?

Just a quick note to all of you. I thank you for being true fans. Those of you who posted comments, I appreciate your loyalty. It was a very rough night last night for me. No one in that ballpark felt worse than I did. I give my all every time out and always will. 162 game schedule and we are nearing the finish line, but there is a lot of race left. Thank you again and hope to see you again sometime soon. Please say hello if you are near the bullpen.

Jason

If that bullpen is for the Newark Bears, I will happily say hello. Otherwise, I'll be the one getting escorted out for just throwing a beer on your head at Comerica. No offense, but you just don't belong.

In other News, the Natural is on Comcast Free On Demand if anyone wants some uplifting viewing!

Maybe we should have a thread like this for Craig Monroe.

He's batting .220 with 93 strikeouts and is DEAD LAST in on base percentage for outfielders in the majors. And it's not even close either. He's 30 points behind the next closest player!

Oh BTW, he also makes 5 mil to do it. At least Grilli is only costing us 375k.

Yeah, if this team is going to let a guy like Carlos Pena go, they certainly need to be consistant enough to let Craig go as well. He's pissing away a valuable roster spot and I'm ashamed that I've had the audacity in the past to suggest that there were teams in the league who would actually give something up to get him.

Yeah, fuck Monroe. May as well bring on Maybin/Clevlen--they're probably better than Craig right now. Don't know what happened to ol' C'Mo.

Jethro34

Make the call for Maybin. I'm betting he at least gets on base and his late season accomplishmetns are reminiscent of a young Andruw Jones.

He needs to go back to shoplifting $30 belts from department stores ASAP.

If I'm pitching to Monroe I throw him 3 straight curve balls outside the plate. He'll strike out every time.

I seriously doubt any minor league OF we can call up will be worse than him right now. Thames is supposed to be back tonight anyway, but I suspect Leyland will still use C Mo against lefties because Thames will play 1B and Rayburn will play CF for Granderson. He should keep Casey in there (he's still batting .286 against lefties) and keep Thames at LF.
