Glenn 07-23-2007, 09:59 AM The Trib says J. Vasquez has been moved to game 2 of the DH, they are calling up the rook that they got in the Freddy Garcia deal to pitch game 1 of the DH.
Any word on our starter for the DH? I'm hearing alot about this Miner kid, but it could be Durbin, too.
Glenn 07-23-2007, 10:06 AM I just read where Danny Knobler, http://www.mlive.com/images/tigers/gal_070613_knobler_mug.jpg, wrote that the Tigers could call up Virgil Vasquez for the DH (Perez could go down with Leyland stating yesterday that Monroe has won his job back).
That would set up an intriguing Vasquez vs. Vasquez matchup.
WTFchris 07-23-2007, 10:40 AM I had heard they were calling someone up for that too. I don't think Leland wants to move Minor and Durbin back and forth from the bull pen to starting (unless a long term injury happens). I think he wants them to settle in there because that's were he'll need him going forward.
Hermy 07-23-2007, 10:50 AM Is there any doubt Knobler uses the Mlive forum to attract 15 year old boys to "come play ball"?
Glenn 07-23-2007, 11:36 AM Vasquez vs. Vazquez it is...

Zekyl 07-23-2007, 06:58 PM Glenn, was that the same Miner kid that we got in a trade a while back? Who was it we traded for him? Some guy with an F in his name. Franswindt or something like that.
Timone 07-23-2007, 07:17 PM Hopefully if we sweep this would finally lead to the firing of Ozzie Guillen. Not likely though.
Tahoe 07-23-2007, 08:23 PM Hessman? Did he come over with Miner? j/k
Tahoe 07-23-2007, 09:18 PM Curtis Granderson is really a presence at the plate this year. Pretty amazing.
Tahoe 07-23-2007, 10:57 PM Hawk is beside himself...He's hating the bloopers all night. Its prety funny listnening to him moan and groan.
But he says the Tigers are the team to beat.
Zip Goshboots 07-23-2007, 11:28 PM Nice night. Detroit wins and Cleveland loses. I could get used to that.
Vinny 07-23-2007, 11:44 PM Hawk is beside himself...He's hating the bloopers all night. Its prety funny listnening to him moan and groan.
But he says the Tigers are the team to beat.
Hawk's hilarious for about 5 games, then he kind of get's annoying. The best are when the Sox fuck up real bad, there will just be like 30 seconds of dead air.
b-diddy 07-24-2007, 12:33 AM http://www.williamsgrovepark.com/images/Kiddie/teacups.jpg
i rode em tonight.
b-diddy 07-24-2007, 12:43 AM oh yea, i'd pass miller on the rotation for one start. i think all his struggles with finding the plate are fatigue related.
could be way off.
Glenn 07-24-2007, 01:41 PM Miller imploded.
I was sad.
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 01:46 PM As was I. But hell, he's a rookie, what do you expect. Hopefully the pitching coaches can tame his arm throughout the second half of the season so he can keep the walks and balls down.
Hermy 07-24-2007, 01:49 PM Right before he went nuts, he hit 98 on the gun. He was throwing too hard. He needs an out pitch, it's too much to ask the kid to paint the corners all game.
Glenn 07-24-2007, 02:31 PM Looks like the ChiSox decided to keep J. Vazquez as their game 1 starter after all.
Bondo gave up 2 early runs again.
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 02:38 PM Yeah, Bonderman did. Hopefully we can give him a few runs as he (hopefully) settles in.
And yeah, Miller can throw really hard, but I'd feel better if he could just command it while he learns to throw his slider as an out pitch as Hermy mentioned.
Glenn 07-24-2007, 02:41 PM Looks like Leyland has our "A" lineup out there for game 1, I shudder to think what it's going to look like for game 2.
At least Neifi isn't an option.
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 02:49 PM At least we should see Mike Hessman and his odd-looking face.
Zekyl 07-24-2007, 03:04 PM And yeah, Miller can throw really hard, but I'd feel better if he could just command it while he learns to throw his slider as an out pitch as Hermy mentioned.
That's why I'd have rather seen him stay in the minors for the rest of this season and come up next season. That way he can work on developing those things without affecting our wins-losses.
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 03:07 PM He's 5-3, and had an ERA just over 2 in July coming into yesterday.
I guess I'm skeptical of who we have that's better.
Glenn 07-24-2007, 03:28 PM Yeah, boy.
Tie game on Grandy's HR.
Vinny 07-24-2007, 03:33 PM By no means should he win it, but at this point, Curtis has to at least be in the discussion for some MVP votes. What a season this kid is having.
(Vinny's pretty sure that it all has to do with his recent jersey purchase...) (And yes, Vinny does enjoy talking about Vinny in the third person.)
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 03:38 PM Fuckanerko.
WTFchris 07-24-2007, 03:40 PM He's been on a nice little streak lately. I think he's hitting .482 since the all star break, plus he's 2-3 with the HR today. It's too bad he sucks against lefties so bad though. It would be really hard to be in the MVP talk when you don't play against lefties most nights.
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 03:41 PM He tore it up against Buehrle & Co. yester eve.
WTFchris 07-24-2007, 03:51 PM true. maybe he'll turn the corner there and keep it up.
Vinny 07-24-2007, 03:56 PM Alot of guys come up not hitting lefties, some learn, some never can. Travis Hafner learned and turned into a stud, hopefully Curtis can too. They have only been sitting him against the tougher lefties this year though which is a step in the right direction. His defense is so valuable in center it's hard to bench him.
Tahoe 07-24-2007, 09:10 PM I like some of these youngsters. Did the rosters expand already? Perez, Rayburn, Vasquez, Hessman off the top.
Tahoe 07-24-2007, 09:26 PM Didn't the ChiSox have on their Black uni's for the day game? Anyway I was going to say that I do like the Black uni of theirs.
DrRay11 07-24-2007, 09:59 PM Perez is old and has been sent down in favor of Hessman, who looks like he could actually play in the league. We'll see, though.
Also, on Virgil Vasquez. Although the numbers in this game don't show it, it just doesn't look to me like he has the stuff to crack our rotation the next few years. Frankly, I don't even see how he's one of our better prospects -- from what I've seen, his breaking ball just doesn't break very much and his fastball is high 80s to low 90s. I just don't see it with him, although today he's found a way to be effective (so far).
Hessman has one homer, but he was just out in front of one he could have had and just missed another that he drove deep into right.
Scary power, he and Marcus Thames can hit some dingers for sure.
Hessman may prove worth having up here once the rosters expand if we need some immediate power somewhere down the line.
Keep it up Tigahs.
Edit: Hall somehow got fucked up by Guillen's backswing -- looked to have got him in just the right spot, because the backswing wasn't vicious at all. Hope it's not serious (like Vertigo) or anything.
H1Man 07-24-2007, 11:02 PM Damn.
The Tigers were up 7-1 when I left and now its 7-6. What the hell happen?
RegicideGreg 07-24-2007, 11:11 PM 7-7 now
H1Man 07-24-2007, 11:18 PM Crap.
Edit: Atleast we got out of that inning without much damage.
RegicideGreg 07-24-2007, 11:33 PM wow they blew it
Tahoe 07-24-2007, 11:36 PM That sucked but clearly fell on the pitching letting down. I'm still amped about the youngsters.
H1Man 07-24-2007, 11:39 PM That sucked.
Timone 07-25-2007, 01:44 AM Nice choke there assholes.
Glenn 07-25-2007, 06:40 AM No way, they lost?
I went to bed.
FUCK
Timone 07-25-2007, 08:37 AM Gave up the game tying and game winning hits to Scott Podsednik and AJ Pierzynski too. Yeesh...
DrRay11 07-25-2007, 08:53 AM How did we get Minor? I don't think I like that kid...
WTFchris 07-25-2007, 10:44 AM How did we get Minor? I don't think I like that kid...
got him with Calon in the Farnsworth deal. He's ok. This all stems from Rodney and Zumaya being gone though. Everyone else is moved up in the bullpen rotation and guys are used more often then they normally would be.
Tahoe 07-25-2007, 12:33 PM How did we get Minor?
He's an alien
Tahoe 07-25-2007, 12:35 PM On Grandy...I'm waiting for an inside the park homer from him. The last Tiger I remember getting one is Gibson. I think he hit one out of the park that night too. Out out not just a homer.
MoTown 07-25-2007, 09:34 PM Yikes Kenny. Is it too early to say that he wasn't ready to come back?
DrRay11 07-25-2007, 09:55 PM Ryan Raburn is fiyah.
Tahoe 07-25-2007, 10:31 PM Our pitching is sucking donkey dick right now.
Tahoe 07-25-2007, 10:38 PM Was Grilli just mean muggin the ump? Wow, didn't know Grilli had that in him, if I saw it right.
Tahoe 07-25-2007, 11:28 PM That was sweet for Raburn to get a couple more rbis...7 total.
I 'think' the pen can hold them now.
13-9 Tigs
Timone 07-26-2007, 08:49 AM What a wacky ass series. Damn entertaining too.
WTFchris 07-26-2007, 10:12 AM That was sweet for Raburn to get a couple more rbis...7 total.
He's going to play tonight too I think. Sheff isn't going to play until they get to LA.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 02:00 PM Detroit
C. Granderson CF 0-0
P. Polanco 2B 0-0
R. Raburn RF 0-0
M. Ordonez DH 0-0
M. Hessman 1B 0-0
I. Rodriguez C 0-0
C. Monroe LF 0-0
B. Inge 3B 0-0
O. Infante SS 0-0
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 02:03 PM I like the way JL sandwiched Raburn and Hessman between our power hitters. Pitchers have to throw strikes to the youngsters.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 02:18 PM JV escapes the 1st without any damage (other than 25 pitches thrown).
Glenn 07-26-2007, 02:37 PM Omar just tatered.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 03:38 PM Back on top, 3-2.
Two on and nobody out in the 7th.
C'mon Omar!
Almost bullpen time. :yikes:
WTFchris 07-26-2007, 03:45 PM 2nd and 3rd for Polanco. Time to add two more runs I hope.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 03:57 PM Did my eyes deceive me or did #9 hitter Alex Cintron (with the .233 avearge) just swing on 3-0 with a man on first?
Thank you, Alex!
On to the 8th...
Glenn 07-26-2007, 03:59 PM Heart of the order (3-4-5) coming up.
Who wouldn't fear these guys?
R. Raburn RF
M. Ordonez DH
M. Hessman 1B
Where's Tahoe?
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:03 PM Detroit Inning Summary
- R. Raburn grounded out to shortstop
- M. Ordonez grounded out to shortstop
- M. Hessman grounded out to third
That took about 2 1/2 minutes.
WTFchris 07-26-2007, 04:04 PM now who is going to get Thome and Konerko out?
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:19 PM This is pathetic that we have to rely on a guy with no out pitch in this situation in the 8th inning.
Avatar be damned.
Bases juiced, 0 out.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:20 PM Gotta play for the double play here and allow the run to score.
H1Man 07-26-2007, 04:22 PM Tie game. [smilie=banghead.gi:
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 04:25 PM Missed the first part on how the runners got on but the alien pretty much pitched out of it for us.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:27 PM I wonder how hard Zumaya can throw left handed?
Wizzle 07-26-2007, 04:37 PM not over, and yet, it's over
darkobetterthanmelo 07-26-2007, 04:38 PM Fuck a miner. How did we acquire him, Glenn?
Hermy 07-26-2007, 04:39 PM Monroe can choke on balls.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:40 PM MOTHERFUCKER!!!!
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 04:40 PM Tiger's pitchers fielding woes continue.
Wizzle 07-26-2007, 04:41 PM Miner can choke on balls
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 04:41 PM Where in the hell was out right fielder? Not that it was on him but it seems like he would have kind of cheated over there.
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 04:43 PM Ryan Sideburns was in right.
DrRay11 07-26-2007, 04:44 PM Damn, there goes all my alpacas, not to mention a Tigers win.
Wizzle 07-26-2007, 04:44 PM LOL at the new Av Glenn
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:48 PM I feel sick.
If that anal bleeding starts up again I'm going to send some to Miner.
DrRay11 07-26-2007, 04:49 PM Fuck Zach Miner, he sucks. I don't know how he got here, but we need to send he and Grilli off ASAP.
WTFchris 07-26-2007, 04:51 PM What is this crap?
Z Miner relieved B Seay.
P Konerko walked, T Iguchi to third, J Thome to second.
A Pierzynski grounded into double play, shortstop to second to first, T Iguchi scored, P Konerko out at second, J Thome to third.
J Dye grounded out to third.
S Podsednik singled to left.
J Fields sacrificed to pitcher, S Podsednik to second, J Fields safe at second on throwing error by pitcher Z Miner. S Podsednik scored on throwing error by pitcher Z Miner.
Glenn 07-26-2007, 04:54 PM I'm going to buy a ticket soon and throw a water bottle at Miner.
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 04:57 PM I'd rather Miner pitch early in the games so we can see how many we'll have to come back from.
WTFchris 07-26-2007, 04:58 PM I'd rather do something in the next 4 days to make sure we don't rely on Minor, Seay and Grilli if Rodney and Zumaya aren't %100.
Tahoe 07-26-2007, 05:06 PM Is DD showcasing these youngsters getting ready to make a deal for pitching?
Vinny 07-26-2007, 10:44 PM Hessman and Raburn aren't exactly youngsters, they've been around the block a few times. They may have some use but they're not really going to bring back much in a trade.
Timone 07-27-2007, 07:26 AM Minor: major cocksucker.
Tahoe 07-27-2007, 12:45 PM Hessman and Raburn aren't exactly youngsters, they've been around the block a few times. They may have some use but they're not really going to bring back much in a trade.
Thx, I thought they were younger or more like a prospect not knowing what their upside is. I agree just them won't bring much, I was thinking including them with X or Y.
