Wow, I knew about the fight, but I didn't know that he has been charged with a felony.

What do we have left (besides $, lol) from the Farnsworth deal now?

Roman Colon was traded to the Detroit Tigers Sunday.

The Braves announced after their game against the Pirates Sundah that they acquired right-handed reliever Kyle Farnsworth from Detroit, in exchange for right-handed pitchers Zach Miner and Roman Colon.

Since leaving the Cubs and landing in Detroit this year, the hard-throwing Farnsworth has proven he's more than just a thrower and has the capability of being one of the game's top relievers. In 42 2/3 innings this year, he's posted a 2.32 ERA and registered 55 strikeouts.

Farnsworth graduated from Milton High School in Alpharetta, Ga., a northern Atlanta suburb. He has been successful in six of eight save opportunities for the Tigers this year; he's expected to serve as the top setup man for Braves closer Chris Reitsma.

Farnsworth has limited opponents to a .192 batting average this year. He hasn't allowed a home run since April 14, and seven of the 11 earned runs he's surrendered have come in two of his 46 appearances.

Colon flourished in a starter's role when he was asked to fill a void in the Braves' injury-depleted starting rotation. As a starting pitcher, he was 1-2 with a 3.09 ERA. As a reliever, he was 0-3 with a 7.71 ERA.

Miner, who was the Braves' fourth-round selection in the 2000 draft, was 2-7 with a 4.23 ERA in 17 starts with Richmond this year.

Well, I'm glad he's gone in any case.

Serves him right for being named "Roman" and not "Ramon".

Apparently, he's a Tremaine Fowlkes fan as well.

We're on pace for 35 players to be named later by the end of the year. In other words, in October we'll find out what Lakeland's roster will be for next season.

I hope we get some IF prospects out of this. We need to develop some for the post Guillen/Polonco days.

I wouldn't count on the PTBNL to be anything more than cash. It's unlikely that Colon had any trade value at all, especially given the pending felony charges on him.

What about the Miner guy? Did we try to get him in the Farnsworth deal?

A buddy of mine says he thinks Zach Minor was the other piece to that Farnsworth deal. I haven't looked it up though.

Hopefully this link is as useful to everyone else as it was for me.

It's really cool how I found it. I went to a site called "Google" and I typed in "How did the Tigers acquire Zach Miner?" and I found this!

Royals send Christensen to Detroit to complete trade

11/13/2007, 8:08 p.m. EST The Associated Press

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals sent pitcher Danny Christensen to Detroit on Tuesday to complete the trade that brought right-hander Roman Colon to Kansas City in midseason.
The Tigers got a player to be named for Colon on July 13. Christensen, a 24-year-old lefty, was 2-15 with a 6.21 ERA in 27 games for Double-A Wichita.
Kansas City also reinstated Colon, right-handers Luke Hudson and Joe Nelson, and infielders Angel Sanchez and Ryan Shealy from the 60-day disabled list.
Nelson, who missed the 2007 season after having shoulder surgery in March, was then designated for assignment. He was 1-1 with nine saves and a 4.43 ERA in 43 appearances with the Royals in 2006.

A 2-15 pitcher in AA? Man we killed the Royals in this deal.

I hope we attached a condom to the agreement because we raped them.

Oh yeah Colon. Who did the Tigers get with him for Farnsworth, again?

I heard Christensen will be DFA very soon...he's not worth the roster spot...especially given those numbers...

Wow, what a freaking waste. Colon wasn't that bad, was he? I mean, were we really in position to give him away for nothing? Was he that useless to us? I honestly don't remember how he was doing when we traded him, but unless we just needed a roster spot that badly, I'd have held on to him and tried to get SOMETHING worthwhile.
