OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma football program must forfeit all wins from the 2005 season and will lose scholarships as a result of players being paid for work they had not performed.
The penalties, announced Wednesday by the NCAA, stem from a case involving two players, including Sooners starting quarterback Rhett Bomar, who were kicked off the team for being paid for work they had not performed at a Norman car dealership.
Oklahoma permanently dismissed Bomar and guard J.D. Quinn point when it was determined they had knowingly and willfully been involved in receiving payment for work not performed. A third member of the team had been previously dismissed by the university for violations of team rules.
MoTown 07-11-2007, 03:44 PM Yet Ohio State remains unscathed.
WTFchris 07-11-2007, 03:55 PM There goes their big Holiday Bowl win.
Glenn 07-11-2007, 03:57 PM Kids only care that they are with Nike, so they'll be fine.
Baker 07-11-2007, 07:55 PM It is so ridiculous when they make a university "forfeit" games. Nice! Like that means anything, the games were already played, the fans already celebrated, and the opposing teams already lost out on opportunities. Big fucking deal. It's such a joke.

Zip Goshboots 07-11-2007, 08:11 PM I agree, Tre: I'm calling Bill Martin and having him re-raise those 1992 and 1993 Final Four banners.

I wonder, did they (the OU players) get paid to the tune of $600,000 for the work they didn`t do?

Ed Martin jokes. Keep tipping your hand, troll.

LOL! Zip, a troll is somebody that comes to a forum and just talks ridiculous shit about the other team and that's it. Bukdow has taken part in several conversations w/out flamming.
Zip Goshboots 07-12-2007, 12:03 AM I'm not accusing bukdow of flamming, I'm accusing him of being an imbecile.
bukdow 07-12-2007, 02:07 PM Ed Martin jokes. Keep tipping your hand, troll.
Oh, its a joke alright. Not in the way that you mean, but certainly a huge joke. $600,000, baby. The biggest disgrace to college sports ever.
Zip Goshboots 07-12-2007, 04:20 PM If ya ain't cheatin', ya ain't trying, numbnuts.

Thats not cheating, thats just filthy shit.
Zip Goshboots 07-12-2007, 10:31 PM Aw c'mon now bukdow, don't be so judgemental. Just a couple kids from Da Hood needing some jack, what's the harm? When you were eighteen or nineteen, and some dude offered you a couple hundred K, you'd have snatched it up real quick. I mean, we're not talking about you and the priest, getting on your knees for a sprinkle of "holy water", we're talking more money than you've ever seen, and you're just a hard up kid at school. You need a couple of Totino's and a six pack of beer, you got a hot cheerleader coming over, and you want to impress her.
Now, I know your a loser that people would probably pay five bucks for you to disappear (and, fortunately for that girls parents, you took it), but still, try to put yourself in their shoes (even if they are Adidas).
Tahoe 07-12-2007, 11:00 PM Gotta agree with Tre on this one. Forfeit Schmorfiet, who cares? Losing some Schollies is another deal.

Yeah, Chris Webber really "needed" 250 thousand dollars. He just barely got by with that amount. I have no idea what that religious part meant, I'm hoping you weren't ripping religion or God with whatever that was that you wrote. Without a negative religious comment that was the worst post in a long time. If there was some sort of negative meaning behind that comment, than...well, nevermind.

I would think that another one of those so called "college graduates", and one who purports to be a techer would see a whole lot of irony and double meaning in the post about the Jive Five needing some bucks, other than to say that , hell yes, if I was in college and some dude tosses 250 K into my jock, I'm going to take the money, and I defy anyone to say they wouldn't. Other than that, again, maybe one day you;ll wake up and discover a personality, a brain, and a sense of humor somewhere deep in your soul.

It seems you are trying to put the blame on the kids for taking the money. I don`t blame the kids. I blame UM for knowingly working through a sleaze ball like Ed Martin to influence kids with large amounts of money. That behavior is as grotesquely cynical as it gets. What makes it even worse (and funny as hell because it exposed UM`s true colors) is that the perpetrator was UM, one of the most smug, psuedo-elite, pretentious piece of shit institutions in the country. UM is worse than UNLV, worse than Cincinnati, worse than every other university in the country. $600,000, baby. The biggest pile of smarm ever.
Alas, there are boot-lick, life-failure apologists like Zippy Sloshboots that are willing to make excuses because their false allegiance to UM is all they have.
Zip Goshboots 07-13-2007, 02:23 PM What I'm proudest of is that Michigan not only got away with it for so many years, but that the money kept Webber and Rose from going to MSU. Just think, budow, if they had gone there, MSU probably would have actually WON the championships in 1992 and 1993, and also would have benefitted greatly by the "cred" from those championships by getting more recroots and winning one or two more before the 2000 season.
OUCH!

I would expect nothing less from a lick-spittle like you. You think you are edgy and unconventional, but you are just childish, predictable and dumb.
Zip Goshboots 07-13-2007, 02:33 PM I do think it's time for Bill Martin to open up his wallet for guys like Fred Smith, Nick Perry, and Jonas Gray as well.
Someone needs to prevent them from going over to the SMU of Ingham County and falling into obscurity.

I'm so glad that in your eyes Michigan STILL went to consecutive championship games. I guess that's a few more "championships" we can start claiming again.
Next: I'm just waiting for cccsdad to show up and accuse Tre of making this story up. Looks like Nichol just lost a couple WR recruits down the line.
