View Full Version : Neifi Perez Suspended 25 games, Raburn called up Wilfredo Ledezma 07-06-2007, 11:34 AM 25 games for using the "greenies" Ryan Raburn coming up per 1270 Glenn 07-06-2007, 11:35 AM http://www.freep.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070706/SPORTS/70706027/0/SPORTS Neifi Perez suspended for 25 games July 6, 2007 FREE PRESS STAFF Detroit Tigers shortshop Neifi Perez was suspended for 25 games today by Major League Baseball for testing postive for a banned stimulant. The suspension is effective immediately. The Tigers open a three-game series tonight at home against the Boston Red Sox. Perez has played in 33 games this season, with six RBIs, 11 hits and one run. He is batting .172. Glenn 07-06-2007, 11:35 AM What a dumbass. Wilfredo Ledezma 07-06-2007, 11:35 AM talk about a big loss...why couldn't it have been Guillen? Glenn 07-06-2007, 11:41 AM My first reaction was "Why not Ramon Santiago?" but then it ocurred to me that Raburn is probably here to replace Monroe. What's up with Clevelen? DrRay11 07-06-2007, 11:43 AM I thought they should bring up Mike Hessman, throw him out there for a few ABs... He's been hitting a ton of dingers at Toledo. Wilfredo Ledezma 07-06-2007, 11:45 AM Raburn can't play SS, but he is beating the F out of the ball in AAA... Wilfredo Ledezma 07-06-2007, 11:46 AM Think Shelton will ever wear the Olde English D ever again? Talk about falling off the face of the Earth... Vinny 07-06-2007, 11:53 AM Clevelen's been terrible this year, Shelton's out of options, and I really hope we release Neifi. H1Man 07-06-2007, 11:53 AM I am hoping that the Raburn callup means that Monroe is going to be finally traded. DrRay11 07-06-2007, 12:03 PM Clevlen was terrible last year before being called up, and he played well when he got here. Is he still in AA? Does anyone know anything about Mike Hessman? Glenn 07-06-2007, 12:06 PM Does anyone know anything about Mike Hessman? Only thing I know is that he had a butt chin. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/baseball/news/2001/12/26/hall_choice/henneman.jpg Oh, sorry... Jethro34 07-06-2007, 06:06 PM Clevlen was terrible last year before being called up, and he played well when he got here. Is he still in AA? Does anyone know anything about Mike Hessman? I know that he's been at AAA for at least two seasons, and while he can hit for power and his average is up this season (.269) there is some fear as to how much of a hitter he actually is. This year 49 of his 86 hits are extra base hits, so he swings hard. What normally accompanies that? You guessed it, 110 strikeouts. Last season he only hit .165. 57 hits (35 for extra bases) but 129 strikeouts. Yikes. Not a ton of errors from 3B though. Since he's already 29, it's hard to believe he would ever be a replacement for Inge. Not exactly sure what his role is in the organization. Pretty much filling that AAA roster spot trying to help them win games is all. Unless Inge has a serious injury I'm guessing he never sees the D. Tahoe 07-06-2007, 07:17 PM Nefi's loss is the Tigers gain. Jethro34 07-06-2007, 07:26 PM By the way, how does a 50 year old that hits a HR every 150 games get busted for a banned substance? Did he really think his career was going to get much better? Tahoe 07-06-2007, 07:57 PM I'd hate to see him play without whatever it was he thought he needed. Timone 07-06-2007, 08:43 PM lol at Nefertiti Perez. b-diddy 07-06-2007, 11:19 PM well if we dont win the world series, i'll know why. mitch albom is reporting, "He had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, laughers, screamers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that he needed all that for the homestand against cleveland, but once you get into locked a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worried me was the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I knew he'd get into that rotten stuff pretty soon." |
