Here's a random blog about his experience in the Kwik-E-Mart:

My Adventures Into The Mouth Of The 7-Eleven Kwik-E-Mart

If you’ve ever wondered how pervasive Hollywood marketing efforts could get, then look no further than the merchandising wizards at Twentieth Century Fox. In order to hype the upcoming release of “The Simpsons Movie,” the studio has teamed with 7-Eleven to equip stores across the country with “Simpsons”-branded items, and to turn 11 hand-picked locations into full-blown, real-life Kwik-E-Mart’s, Springfeld’s ubiquitous convenience store.

Since one of the chosen shops was just a couple of blocks from the MTV offices, I hiked over there to witness the hubbub for myself. Whereas other stores have completely draped their building facades in the show’s Kwik-E-Mart theme, in this instance the limitations of residing in New York City forced the company to adapt a more toned-down approach. That said, all mentions of 7-Eleven on the storefront were gone, replaced by movie-advertising-safe Kwik-E-Mart branding and signs for the “First Bank of Springfield.” From a pure business standpoint, that takes some stones on 7-Eleven’s part. I realize “The Simpsons” are firmly entrenched in the American pop culture zeitgeist, but still…it’s a friggin’ cartoon. But whatever, in I went. After the jump, photos and commentary galore.

Anyone actually seen an Indian counter-worker at a 7-11 around these parts?

I have yet to meet the exact stereotype in Michigan.

I believe there's an Indian man who works at the 711 in Melvindale. I know a Middle Eastern man works at the gas stations.

I see other nationalities, just not Indian convenience store workers in particular. My most common sterotype sighting at such places is "fat white trash woman".

Same here, and it's always at the doctor's office too. Go figure...

and BTW, which has more rip offs...Dr. Pepper or Grunge bands?

Now that you mention it, the only indians I ever see working low wage jobs in these parts are at indian restaurants. Outside of that the only ones I've seen were doctors, dentists, software developers and other professional types.

Springfield, Vermont to Host 'The Simpsons Movie' Premiere (http://www.voanews.com/english/Entertainment/2007-07-11-voa62.cfm)

Just say "D'oh!" Springfield, Vermont has been chosen to host the premiere of The Simpsons Movie.

The tiny hamlet - population 9,300 - topped 13 other like-named U.S. cities on July 10. Its 100-seat cinema will on July 21 host the full-length animated comedy, which opens nationwide six days later.

Springfields in Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, New Jersey, Ohio, Oregon, and Tennessee, also made bids. Each submitted a video showing how it resembled the Simpsons' own fictional hometown of Springfield. While Vermont's Springfield wasn't initially an entrant, its Chamber of Commerce ensured a slot after appealing to the movie's production studio, 20th Century Fox.

Damn, we can't catch a break....
