Frank Hughes, Sonics Insider for The News Tribune, quoting a source from local radio station WXYT, says the Pistons are considering shipping Richard Hamilton to Seattle.

July 1, The News Tribune: I got a call from a friend in Detroit who said a radio station there -- 1270 AM -- is saying that Richard Hamilton may be heading to the Sonics. This has not been confirmed by anybody I know but just thought I'd throw out the scuttlebutt. Keep in mind, though, that assistant GM Scott Perry was hired from Detroit, and the Pistons just drafted Rodney Stuckey and Arron Afflalo.
These are the only details available on this rumor, and they are sketchy at best. Don't be surprised if it picks up steam considering that Scott Perry recently joined the Sonics front office. Still, keep your eyes open for a more reliable source before taking any stock in this rumor

i realize this is almost fun w/ trades forum level, but let the speculation begin.

i'd be thrilled if this landed us a combo of durant/green.

possibly swatworthy based on that comment alone

Whats that then? An Oop-Swat? Like Lindsay taking it to the whole against J.O.

well we can combine that trade with guts' idea of sending 2nd round picks to portland for greg oden and now were talking championships.

and besides, i wasnt joking. i would be thrilled with that trade.

Then Scott Perry rip off their collared shirts and reveal Durant Piston jerseys, and then sign back onto the Detroit organization.

Haha, that would be something out of the WWF book.

In all reality, what would we get for Hamilton from the Sonics?

b-diddy

s&t for rashard

or

combination of wilcox / collison

and

ridnour / watson.

would be my guesses.

rashard lewis was the first person who popped into my head, too....but i can't figure out how he'd fit into our team.

with tayshaun and sheed at the forward spots, where does rashard play? he'd definitely be a great scoring addition.

I really don't see Rashard fitting in at all, unless he can somehow play the 2, or Tayshaun plays the 2. Neither of them seem like they'd be a good fit there though.

I'm not sure about the other idea, though. It would be nice to get a C like Wilcox or Collison, but if we're bringing Stuckey in here to be our backup PG/SG then we don't need Ridnour or Watson, especially if we're not getting rid of Hunter. Rip should be worth more than a fairly average C and a backup PG.

Who would you rather have from those combinations. I don't know who I'd choose between Wilcox and Collison, but I'd take Ridnour over Watson. Wilcox can be great when he's motivated, but that's the thing. Its WHEN he's motivated. I've heard good things about Collison but I haven't seen him much. We'd have to get some draft picks in there too. Maybe they trade us Rip for the second guy they drafted? I don't remember who it was, but I doubt we would get him for Rip.

maybe Joe D's looking at newly acquired Sonic Jeff Green (http://www.nbadraft.net/admincp/profiles/jeffgreen.html)?

Rip/Nazr for Wilcox/Watson/Wilkins would be my guess.

I'd rather have Delonte, but he can't be traded again ina package for a while...

in that scenario, it looks like Stuckey is our starting SG (despite JoeD's assertion that Stuckey's a PG who can score)?

Chauncey/Watson
Stuckey/FlipM/Afflalo/Acker/Wilkens
Tayshaun/GHill(?)
Sheed/Maxiell/Amir
Wilcox/Dice

i like the depth and we do get a younger team. *shrug*

We would get more than that for Rip I hope.

I like a Rip/Nazr for Green/Wilcox/-other-

Not sure what Other would be. Maybe a young guy, like one of their young C's or that young french forward they have, Mikael something. Not really sure.

Kstat

They wouldn't trade Jeff Green even straight up for Rip.

b-diddy
07-02-2007, 05:29 PM
we could also get future firsts, which could be used in conjunction w/ nazr other pieces to facilitate another trade.

i guess robert swift is another guy thats supposed to be pretty good, but i havent watched seatle play in years so i have no clue.

even though rip wasnt the problem or the one who's getting old, i do like the idea of shaking things up and getting younger, i must say.

Joe Asberry

makes no sense to trade our leading scorer even if we drafted 3 SGs
to be honest i wouldn't trade RIP for any of those seattle players, well yeah KD going nowhere...
RIP is arguably our most consistent starter, and he still improves some each year

There's no one on that team (well besides Durant obviously) that I really want for Rip.

Timone

Ray Alle--d'oh!

Zekyl
07-02-2007, 11:01 PM
I wouldn't have traded Rip for Ray Allen. Not a chance.

Timone

Me neither.

What's that big ass dude from France's name? Johan Petro?

Zekyl
07-02-2007, 11:26 PM
Yeah, they have Petro, the C from France, and Mikael Gabriel (something like that), a F from France.

Seconded to the 5th power. These are bad trade ideas and youth doesnt mean shyt if is can't hold the guy its replacing jock strap. Jeff green over Rip? Fuck that weak shit. Not even durant is a sure enough thing to hop on like that.

Bogus Rip rumor (http://info.detnews.com/pistonsblog/index.cfm)

I thought I blogged about this before, but I will do it again. Ignore all the radio blather about Rip Hamilton being traded to Seattle. It was a bogus rumor to start with and for whatever reason, it won't die. But the teams have not, NOT, had a single discussion about Rip.

When the rumor first started to circulate, I called Scott Perry. The former Pistons director of player personnel is now the Sonics' assistant general manager. I asked about the Rip rumor and he laughed. "We would love to have Rip," he said. But then made it clear that there had been no talks and frankly, without Rashard Lewis, didn't know what the Sonics could offer that the Pistons would want. The Pistons aren't going to trade all-star Hamilton for a journeyman like Chris Wilcox -- at least I would hope not.

It is looking more and more likely that the Pistons are going to return their core five -- McDyess, Hamilton, Wallace, Billups and Prince. They will continue to look for a center, but, as I wrote today, it's slim pickings. Joe Dumars will continue to look for ways to upgrade the team, and who knows, he may have a trick or two up his sleeve yet. But, when you look around, he is going to be hard-pressed to improve much on any of those five players -- short of completely dismantling the core. He's not going to upgrade one position at the expense of downgrading two others -- and those are the types of deals teams are looking to make with the Pistons.
