Agent tells Timberwolves' owner that Hudson would like trade

MINNEAPOLIS -- If the Minnesota Timberwolves do decide to trade Kevin Garnett, point guard Troy Hudson would like to be on the plane with KG out of the Twin Cities.

Hudson's agent said Friday that he called owner Glen Taylor to say that the point guard would like to play elsewhere next season.

"It's not like I demanded a trade or anything," Bill Neff said. "It's just time to move on."

Hudson has spent five seasons in Minnesota, with his first one being the best. He averaged 14.2 points and 5.7 assists in 2002-03 and parlayed that into a six-year, $37 million contract. But injuries, and a logjam at point guard last season, have kept him from approaching that production in the last four years.

He's started just 39 games in the last four seasons and averaged 5.9 points and 2.1 assists in 34 games last year. Any chance at consistent playing time essentially went out the window when Randy Wittman took over for the fired Dwane Casey in January.

"We weren't happy [when Wittman took over]," Neff said.

Hudson was believed to be in a package with Garnett that the Wolves were shopping to Boston, a deal that appears unlikely to materialize.

"When I read that they were trying to move him to Boston, my reaction was, 'Could you do it faster?' " Neff said. "He's not in their plans. He wants to play. He can still help someone."

But with an opt-out clause in his contract after next season, Garnett will have plenty of say in where he ends up, if the Timberwolves do decide they would be better off dealing the All-Star forward.

McHale has been more vocal this offseason in saying that he would listen to offers for Garnett, but Taylor has said on more than one occasion that he expects Garnett to be here next season.

Hudson's has three years and more than $18 million left on his deal, which could make him difficult to trade. Neff said the only trade talks he has had direct knowledge of involving his client was a proposal at the trade deadline last season when Detroit offered Nazr Mohammed for Hudson, but that deal never came to fruition.

"Minnesota is not a place we're trying to stay," Neff said.

Sad to say he might have done more than flippity murray in the scoring department. Dude is fire in the playoffs. his contract does suck though. just saying he woulda been an interesting x-factor to our back court. its over now and everyone should just cut themselves. :emo kid:

In terms of trade value, Troy Hudson is a boat anchor and Nazr is a slightly lighter-weight boat anchor.

Minny's been trying to trade Hudson for two years without luck, we've only been trying with Nazr for one.

I dont care what they are. I just wish we woulda never threw nazr's sorry ass on the ship.

The Shock don't need him, they're like 8-1 or something.

Hudson would have contributed more than Nazr in the playoffs, given the chance, imo.

Thats all I was saying. but financially it sucks either way. It seems Nazr isnt going anywhere, unless we take back another bad contract. That contract thing isnt a big deal if they are close. Its the contribution I was speaking on. Hudson coulda provided far more than nazr. With that said its not a testament to hudson's skills, more of a testament to the uselessness that is nazr. so it makes me no difference other than wishful thinking of any help we coulda got in the playoffs. the reality is that it all sucks dinkey balls and there is no future in Flip.

I don't follow this stuff that close but 'if' Garnett did join Kobe in LA, Minni will have to take on some contracts. They will need some bigs and will need a 3rd team to help. Detroit can help out there with either Sheed or Nazr. Or maybe I'm restating whats already been said a thousand times as wishful thinking.

He would've given up more points, yes.

Nazr had 2 possesions. On one he got his shot blocked, and the other he fouled Gibson on a 3. LaTroya Hudson never did too well in the playoffs, she couldn't guard anybody.

career playoff average of 14.9 93 percent from the ft line doesnt strike me as never did too well. he never did all that great in the regular season. but in the playoffs i'd easily take him over nazr on our team anyways. Maybe Nazr would be more valuable on the spurs in the playoffs.

With all that said, both guys are overpaid and the real choice would to not have either financially.

I don't think we need to start comparing these two guys. That's comparing injury-riddled garbage to healthy garbage.

Hudson hasn't played more than 36 games in 3 years, he's a career 40% shooter from the floor. Nothing else really needs to be said.

I'd do the trade if he only had one year left on his deal. Not for 3 years though.
