Cross 06-19-2007, 11:37 AM With Conley falling, and Hawes off, the hawks need to take Acie Law.
Hawks have a lot of forwards but not enough centers or point guards.
Glenn 06-19-2007, 11:55 AM I'm thinking that they go big here with Jason Smith.
They have a couple of nice expiring deals and young players that they could package for a point guard (Bibby?) and even if they can't make that work, Anthony Johnson/Speedy Claxton/Tyronn Lue are servicable until maybe the trade deadline.
Law IV is, of course, a realistic option as well, but then they'd have 4 PGs, so another move (or two) would need to be made.
There have been rumors of this pick getting traded to Portland for Jarrett Jack, too.
WTFchris 06-19-2007, 12:12 PM Well, since they grabbed a big man at #3, I think it's a no brainer to take the PG here. I've seen some mocks having them take Crittinton (not sure if that is based on the local ties from Georgia Tech). I thought Law was rated higher but most sites now have Jarvis higher (maybe he had a great workout).
I'm going to go with the local connection, and also the PG that can break down a defense and get the young wings the ball.

Glenn 06-19-2007, 12:55 PM 3 posts, 3 different players, an hour to go.
This one could get ugly.
We need some more opinions, please.
DrRay11 06-19-2007, 01:06 PM They already went big, so...
Hawks select - Javaris Crittenton
The local product, and he appears to have much more upside than Law.
micknugget 06-19-2007, 01:18 PM I think that Law is rated higher than Crittenton so....
The Hawks select - Acie Law

I thought he was too, but Ford and NBAdraft.net both have Jarvis rated higher.
Javaris seems to be rated higher all around, so i'll pick him for the Hawks. they'll look to take the best available talent.

Zekyl 06-19-2007, 01:45 PM I'm going with Javaris too. I've heard they like him from quite a few places. Acie Law is more of a shooting pg, and with all the young wings they have, they need someone that's going to be more of a facilitator. Johnson is their shooter.
Javaris Crittenton
WTFchris 06-19-2007, 01:50 PM Jarvis' combine numbers are a little better than Law's on almost all accounts.
Cross 06-22-2007, 08:26 AM Law had been scheduled to work out today with a group of guards that included Florida junior point guard Taurean Green and Vanderbilt's Derrick Byars. But his sudden cancellation has lead to speculation that he has received a guarantee from the Hawks, who are in need of a point guard and hold the No. 3 and 11 picks in the June 28 NBA Draft.

Glenn 06-22-2007, 08:33 AM I was just about to post that too, Cross, lol.
Acie cancelled his workout with the Hornets (#13), which does make it sound like he's got a promise from somebody before then.
Cross 06-22-2007, 08:40 AM This means Conley does not go 3 at all. I've been hearing alot of horford to Atl as the number 3. Well Horford is easily top 5 talent.
