View Full Version : ??? for those with a wife or sig other
Tahoe 06-18-2007, 07:59 PM Do any of you take into consideration what your wife/sig other wants when it comes to your hair cuts, beards etc?
My sig other has been wanting me to cut my beard for 5 years. I kept saying if you stop talking about it, maybe I will.
She doesn't want me to shave it but cut it. Its a zz top type and my hair goes half way down my back too. I guess maybe thats a lil exteme.

Tahoe, I'm surprised your significant other isn't incredibly fascinated with dating a yeti.
I would guess the REAL reason she wants you to discover personal grooming is because she is sick and tired of all the other chicks who can;t keep their hands off you.
Jethro34 06-18-2007, 10:08 PM Well, my wife always puts in her 2 cents about my hair and facial hair. Sometimes I listen, sometimes I don't - because I would like some say regarding her hair.
As for the ZZ Top, it's not just her that wants you to cut it, it's society. Let go man, it's 2007.
I listened but I never kept anything I didn't like or was uncomfortable with. Never had any kind of issue over something that would take more than a month to grow back though, so I don't know that my experience would apply.
Jethro34 06-18-2007, 10:29 PM I've had anywhere from hair slightly in my eyes to a shaved head, from clean shaven, the goatee, to beard, to sould patch, and I've had mutten chops. My wife didn't like everything, she especially hated shaved head. But it happened and will again sometime. She eventually gets used to it but she's more receptive when she likes my hair.
Do your own thing man. As long as it isnt against the times, its all good. Only advice is to shave around the mouth area, to quote a chick I know 'we dont like to kiss sandpaper'.
Zekyl 06-18-2007, 10:54 PM My girlfriend "hates facial hair" so I always shave before a visit (it's college, she's home for the summer). But then I'm pretty lazy with it when she's not around. Also, my hair was down to my shoulders when I started dating her but she hinted that she wanted it trimmed up like it was when we first met so I gladly trimmed it. It's just hair, doesn't matter to me.
Zip Goshboots 06-19-2007, 09:37 AM When I start shaving and then not just cutting, but combing my hair, then my wife will KNOW I have a girlfriend.
Timone 06-19-2007, 10:06 AM I love my beard. Bitch knows if she told me to shave I'd tell her to trim that bush.
WTFchris 06-19-2007, 01:10 PM Not really. but I've had the same hair style since I met her so that doesn't really count.
Tahoe 06-19-2007, 01:54 PM Ya know after thinking about it, my hair and beard is prolly more of a 'fuck you' hair style than anything. I live in a conservative, predominently white (cept for Dusty Baker, Bobby Jackson, etc) area. Everyone walks in lock-step around here. Someone needs to get up these peeps asses.
The replies are all over the place, imo. I'm really considering cutting the beard, but not the hair is the only reason I asked. muchas gracias.
Big Swami 06-19-2007, 02:53 PM My hair went grey when I was 16 so I stopped caring about how it looked a long time ago.
Waydowntownbang 06-19-2007, 04:26 PM I'm so laid back about it that if she wanted me to try something different, I probably would. I shave the head and have a boring goatee, and she seems to like it. If she wanted to see something different, I probably would. Not a big deal to me.

Some cunning linguists think beards tickle, though.
I keep my hair short, a function of having long-hair parents who liked my having long hair as a youth. I wear a beard (either a goatee or full beard) because I think I look like a fucking muppet without one. The one woman who asked me about shaving it saw a picture of me without one and never asked again.
Tahoe 06-19-2007, 06:54 PM Interesting Mxy. My dad made me have short hair the first part of my life, then I grew it out, then I was in the service so it was short again. I think that has something to do with it.
Also, I had a gf ask me to shave my mustache once a hundred years ago then she said...hmmmm go ahead and grow it back. Thanks a lot. btw ex-gf

That's what tongue rings are for.

Different strokes for different folks.

You shaved? How does it feel?
Black Dynamite 06-28-2007, 05:04 PM Chris Benoit has an answer. Don't think you'd want to go that route though.[smilie=peepwall.gi: [smilie=jefffoster.:

Did NOT shave but cut 6-8 inches off so its a standard goatee type. She didn't even notice for a while.
My hair came off ONCE when I joined the armed forces. That is NOT going to happen.
Gutz only you could introduce that pos in this thread. lol
Timone 07-01-2007, 01:59 AM I think now is a good time to shave.
Went bowling with my friends, who I absolutely hate, and after too much xanax I ended up passed out at the table the whole night (no one gave a shit either, what great friends). Combine that with the fact I've got my grunge look going on (which is pathetic in itself) I came to the conclusion I look too much like a hobo.
