View Full Version : Terrelle Pryor - 11 on list, MSU and UM still there
detroitsportscity 06-09-2007, 02:15 PM Link is in the Zeller thread.
He says he wants to be able to play QB and BBall though, which hurts UM(and ND, among others).
Schools are: UMich, MSU, OSU, PSU, GTech, Tenn, UTexas, UF, WVU, Bama and ND.
FillyCheezeSteak 06-09-2007, 02:41 PM I'd say this is a race that only tO$U will be winning. I say that they are about 95% to win this thing right now. He is a HUGE Troy Smith fan and Tressel is telling him exactly what he wants to hear and then he can walk down the hall and have him talk to Thad. I would honestly be shocked if he went anywhere but there as of right now. The only other team I think that has a legit chance would be WVU. With Troy being in the NFL and doing nothing Pat White might be the new "cool Vince Young" type of QB and Huggins is about as dirty as they come and I think it would surprise NOBODY if Huggins somehow convinced Pryor to stay home and be a Mountaineer.
bball11 06-09-2007, 05:36 PM MSU making the cut = moral victory for the spartans, their bball team will be stacked with SG & SF which leaves no room for Pryor. Even tough he seems to fit the mold of a basketball Matt Trannon.

Actually, he would probably be a Anderson style PF - he's gonna be thick. Still not likely to play 'that' much, but he would be starting QB in FB, should the BBall team be waiting till mid January till they get a key player(or so we hope)?
And he 'definitely wants to play QB and play Bball.
That would seemingly take out UM, ND, and to a lesser extent UF and UT(all 4 of whom have brought in super QB's recently).
That leaves MSU, GTech, Tenn, WVU, PSU, OSU, and Bama. Bama has Marve, and that shouldn't scare off Terrelle, but is something to keep in mind. WVU has White, but Terrelle could RS, then take over with little in his way. GTech would have Threet and Nesbitt - both 4 stars, probably the only deep position on that team.
(not saying teams are out, just describing situations)
Jethro34 06-09-2007, 11:23 PM The reason it hurts UM is because it's doubtful Carr and Debord were paying attnetion while Florida won a national championship with a pocket passer and a mobile QB. Otherwise rotating Mallett and Pryor would be incredible.
Zip Goshboots 06-09-2007, 11:50 PM That may be true, Jethro, but I'm digging the rationalizing that will have the Sparties wetting their pants, saying that Pryor will have no choice but to play in East Lansing. And that should come very soon.
I mean, the list has been whittled down by four teams already, and the others have factors that should be steering this kid to Green very shortly.

He's going to OSU, 95% shot.
Now go back to your box, the library is closed.
Zip Goshboots 06-10-2007, 01:06 AM Yeah, man, but that leaves a FIVE PER CENT chance that he could go to State!
Get out you autographed Tim Izzo Speedo's ladies, the state is getting greener as we speak!
bball11 06-10-2007, 08:07 AM Rivals.com (deciding factors)
The nation's No. 1 football prospect, Terrelle Pryor from Pennsylvania had seen his offer list climb to close to a staggering 70 but the two-sport star (he is also a top 30 basketball prospect as rated by Rivals.com) has decided it was time to knock his list down to a manageable number this week. On Friday Pryor, 6-foot-6, 220-pounds, chose 11 lucky finalist who remain in the hunt for his services. Between basketball and football Pryor has over 100 D1 scholarship offers Pryor is rated the nation's top overall prospect. "I'm down to Ohio State, Notre Dame, Michigan, Alabama, Texas, Florida, West Virginia, Penn State, Tennessee, Georgia Tech and Michigan Sate. They are who I will focus on the rest of the year," Pryor said. "It wasn't easy. I just had to go with what I felt were the best options for me. It was time that I got my list down to a group that I could focus on and I went with the coaches who made me feel the most comfortable and offered me the best chance to succeed. "I felt that those eleven schools had everything I was looking for and I had to cut my list down at some point. I know that I've gotten to know the coaches pretty well by texting and talking to them. Also, they all offer me a good education and the chance to play early." Pryor indicated that he was looking for a few certain things from each school and coaching staff from this point forward. "I'm able to focus more now on each school individually and see about their depth chart and where I fit in for the long run in their future plans. I'll be able to tell who has been honest with me so far and who hasn't," Pryor said. "I want to make sure that the school I go to is cool with me playing both sports and that they plan to use me at quarterback. I don't want to move to another position. I'm set on quarterback. "I'm not worried about staying close to home. In fact, I want to get out and see new things and meet new people. That is what college is about. I'm planning on taking some unofficial visits and camping at a few schools this year. That would give me a good chance to work with the quarterback coach and see how we mesh." Pryor is being recruited for Michigan State by Coach Mike Tressel. Head Coach Mark Dantonio is also involved with his recruitment.
Baker 06-10-2007, 08:17 PM MSU being absolutely loaded in bball actually hurts our chances. We have no room for him unless he's okay with being very patient in bball and waiting it out to replace Raymar when his career at MSU is over.
Would be great to see him in Green, but I'm sure he'll pick a powerhouse football program if that is his #1 sport (which it is).
bukdow 06-12-2007, 09:02 PM I`ll wager it is Florida.
Baker 06-12-2007, 09:34 PM I'd bet my left nut that it is Florida and my right one that it is OSU. I think those two schools have situations that are fitting for him in both sports.

Other than Florida having a true sophmore stud QB, and bringing in possibly the best QB recruit in the nation last year, and another who was a 5 star.
I don't think that Florida is that great of an option for him.
Jethro34 06-12-2007, 09:51 PM Florida, Ohio State and Texas, maybe Tennessee, all obviously have the most to offer a guy who's a 5 star in one sport and a 4 star in the other.
A little surprising that he isn't mentioning USC or UCLA, but that's just everyone else's gain.
I think this could take a while (been wrong many times before) but in the end there will be a ton of factors for what must be an insanely difficult decision. If it were me, I would look for a scholl in which BOTH coaches not only convinced me I could win there, but were willing to work together to help me be successful in both sports. I'm sure all 11 have fit that to some degree so far which is why they made the list, but it will get more picky from here on out. One thing that could actually hurt Florida and Ohio State is depth. While there isn't much competition at OSU for QB, there is for SF/PF. While Florida may have lost 4 guys to the NBA draft this year, they have Tebow at QB the next two years at least. He split time with Leak, but there styles were different which made it work. Seems like he and Pryor have similar styles, which hurts that opportunity.
Also, which school is going to help him keep academics straight. Playing both sports at this level takes up a ton of time and he'll have little-to-none for an actual education.
While the frontrunners are easy to identify, I think the decision here may be a surprise. I'm not counting on it being Michigan, but I think it could be a surprise nonetheless.
bukdow 06-12-2007, 10:07 PM I don`t know, there is just something about Matta that doesn`t seem right. He is a decent coach, but there is just something. Donovan on the other hand, whether you like him or not, is a damn good basketball coach. He won back-to-back National Championships with less talent than UNC, the same as Kansas and less than OSU most recently.
As far as football goes, I think its a wash. I know that UF has some QB talent, but this kid is #1 in the country, he don`t give a damn. And frankly, UF is probably the "coolest" school right now. Kids are kids.
Baker 06-12-2007, 11:07 PM Kids don't care if there are studs in front of them, especially when they are ranked #1 in the nation. They tend to have egos as they should, and they believe they can beat out the other guy. I mentioned UF and OSU because they have two great sports right now and they have that draw of being cool.
Jethro, sorry but Michigan's bball program sucks and this kid is mobile. Mobile qb to Michigan? Is Hell frozen over?
Bukdow, I don't disagree that there might be something up with Matta. He's brought in kids WAAAAAY too easily early in his career. It usually takes a few years and some great success. He's had success now, but it came when the talent got there. But, if you think Matta is scandalist...you better throw Donovan in with him. I'd lay my life savings down on the fact that he's shady as hell. That is not due to his success, I've been saying it for years. And many people here will back me on that.

Have I not repeatedly said I don't think he'll end up at Michigan? When I said he might surprise, I tried to make it pretty clear that I WASN"T talking about Michigan. When I say surprise I mean something more like Georgia Tech.
detroitsportscity 06-12-2007, 11:30 PM He has been talking about 'looking at who is on their depth charts'. He isn't stupid. And while he might put himself above kids he hasn't seen, he's seen Tebow, and knows Tebow has that job.
ND, UF, and UM are essentially out due to QB not being open.
GTech too really, they have 2 4 star QB's and practically no other big time talent.
Other schools offer him better situations. UF won't be as good in BBall now, and is STACKED at QB.
USC would be the 'cool' choice anyway, he is looking out for himself, not others.

Wow, Tre actually made a "funny".
Go on guys, with your "everyone but US is dirty, and certainly anyone successfull (except us) is dirty.
Totally laughable and pathetic.

Believing others are dirty without any ounce of proof is pathetic. Believing others are dirty when one has been reported and the other school has been investigated is logical.

Dang dog, either way you're going to lose a nut. Ouch, bad call Lance.

I sure as hell hope he goes to Michigan now. Can you say "soprano"?
Artermis 06-15-2007, 09:10 AM My money is on OSU right now.
Baker 06-24-2007, 12:41 PM Hoover says he wants Gray and Pryor to come to MSU with him and he's going to be recruiting them along with some other top players he knows. Nice.
theMUHMEshow 06-24-2007, 02:05 PM My man is a (ronald johnson) tOSU lock. lol

Artermis 06-25-2007, 02:25 PM UM does have a shot with Will Hill, very good shot at him in fact. Does he come to UM probably not, probably be one of those where UM ends up in 2nd for the kid.

Artermis 06-25-2007, 04:30 PM Please do tell how UM is out of it and if it is in that article can I get a copy and paste job as I am not going to sign up for that site. Thanks.
Glenn 05-31-2011, 04:46 PM SO GLAD that this clown chose the right school, lol
lospistones 05-31-2011, 06:43 PM You mean the University of Ohio State?
Timone 05-31-2011, 06:46 PM In all fairness, I think he was trying to be dramatic when he said "University of Ohio State"
