...said, "You're looking at one happy commissioner." It's in today's USAToday.

That's it, party's over. Turn the lights out. Basketball is officially a business and no longer a game. I read that as a near admission that corruption is going on in the NBA.

Good ride while it lasted though.

Let's hope for a Spurs sweep. The ratings have to be factored by the amount of TV time they consume. The Pistons/Spurs in 2005 actually achieved better ratings in many senses than the Heat/Mavs, simply because it went 7 games.

I agree. I hate Manu and Bowen, but I am pulling for a sweep too. Anything to end this King James shit is worth it. I'd root for the Pacers, the Kings (with Artest). This King James shit ranks up there with the Heat on my list of annoyances. The whole series with us was about nothing but James. No mention of our sucess, it's all about Lebron.

Now that it's clear that Kobe is going to dig his own hole, the league's new heroes are Wade and Lebron. Wade, talent-wise, isn't really up to the task. So get ready for all Lebron all the time.

LeBron still sucks.

I'm guessing that Stern is also loving all of the foreign players in this series. (you know with his "global vision" and what not)

Uncle Mxy

That global vision sure explains why the Spurs are ratings killer.

How are the ratings overseas, though?

Jersey sales?

What little Argentinian doesn't want a Fabricio Oberto jersey or hair barrette?

Sports Illustrated -
Game 1 of the NBA finals drew the lowest rating ever for an opening-game in prime time, dropping 19 percent from last year.

Fuck you, Stern.

I'm starting to figure out the meaning of LeBron.
We are all witnesses, the few of us who bothered to watch. :)

Cleveland=shitty market and a boring team. Lets face it, outside of lebron they are a boring bunch of floppers.

Sideshow Bob isn't nearly as entertaining as Krusty.

Couldn't agree more, I love how some people assume that one superstar in the finals automatically means the ratings will skyrocket.

Fuck David Stern. He's ruined the NBA.

Dirk Nowitzki is your MVP
Cleveland-SA is your finals
LeBron James is the face of your league

With a user name like yours, I would've expected something involving a laxative.

Game 2 of Cavs-Spurs gets slammed by 'The Sopranos' finale

NEW YORK -- Game 2 of the NBA finals lost nearly one-third of its television audience from last year.
The San Antonio Spurs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=sas)' lopsided victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=cle), pitted against the series finale of "The Sopranos," drew a 5.6 national rating and a 10 share on ABC on Sunday night. That's down 30 percent from the 8.0/14 received by the Dallas Mavericks (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=dal) and Miami Heat (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=mia) in 2006.
The ratings for Game 1 fell 19 percent from last year.
Ratings increased from Game 1 to Game 2 in 2006, but they declined this season.
The rating is the percentage watching a telecast among all homes with televisions, and the share is the percentage tuned in to a broadcast among those households with televisions on at the time. A ratings point represents 1,114,000 households.
"The Sopranos" finale was watched by an estimated 11.9 million people on HBO, which is available in about 30 million homes. Game 2 was watched by approximately 8.6 million viewers on ABC, which is available in about 111 million households.

And game 3 got upstaged by Justin Verlander, not just locally, but nationally, too.

Verlander was all they were talking about on ESPNRadio and Fox Sports Radio this a.m.

Is prime time worth that much more than the Sunday afternoon audience?
