I voted Spurs in 5. I'm thinking on a stage like this the refs won't be out there screwing anyone over. Bowen is dirty and will throw Lebron off his game at times. They also don't have anybody to guard Parker (except Snow who is worthless on offense), so he will have a field day out there. I'm picking Parker as my finals MVP. Also, I don't think Big Z can guard TD, so that leaves Gooden and Varajao to tag team him. that means Horry will be floating around outside with Z on him. less rebounds for Z and also open threes for Horry at times.

And also, I'm not sure I want to watch one minute of this flopping contest. I'm not sure my TV will be able to handle all the filth on it.

Also, I will probably watch it anyway to see Lebron blow a gasket from Bowen kicking him in the shins. Thus, Stern will be fooled into thinking fans actually like having the Cavs in the finals.

Spurs in 5, Duncan MVP.

I think Parker is going to shred them.

It will make it painfully obvious how things might be different if we had a PG that could penetrate. (hee hee)

Things could get really scary down the road if they add the right pieces around him. Imagine if they found a steal like Parker was in the late first, or a scorer like Redd. It only takes one lucky pick to turn them into a scary team.

Ratings for Game 1 are lowest ever in prime time (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news;_ylt=AujfSDboBNPzSTenuMluq1e8vLYF?slug=ap-nbafinalsratings&prov=ap&type=lgns)
June 8, 2007

NEW YORK (AP) -- Game 1 of the NBA finals drew the lowest rating ever for an opening-game in prime time, dropping 19 percent from last year.

The San Antonio Spurs' 85-76 victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday night earned a 6.3 rating and 11 share on ABC. The previous low was a 6.4/11 in 2003.

Last year's Game 1 between Miami and Dallas earned a 7.8 rating and 14 share.

The rating is the percentage watching a telecast among all homes with televisions, and the share is the percentage tuned in to a broadcast among those households with televisions on at the time. A ratings point represents 1,114,000 households.

Foot pain may force Hughes to bench for Game 3

ESPN.com news services
Updated: June 12, 2007, 2:04 PM

CLEVELAND -- Observers who think the Cleveland Cavaliers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=cle) would be better off with Daniel Gibson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=4170) starting at point guard might get their wish Tuesday night. Cavs point guard Larry Hughes (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?statsId=3251) indicated Tuesday morning that he would not start in Game 3 of the NBA Finals against the San Antonio Spurs (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=sas) due to increased pain in his injured left heel from a strained plantar fascia. If Hughes can't go, that would open the door for Gibson to start and see more playing time.
"Sometimes you can overcome the physical by mental," Hughes said after the Cavs' morning shootaround. "At this point, it's getting pretty tough."
Cavaliers coach Mike Brown said Tuesday that he had not decided on a starting point guard for Game 3. Nor did he rule out Hughes starting.
"The team has a pretty good rhythm when [Hughes] starts," Brown said.
Hughes took cortisone and novocaine shots to numb the pain and help him play in the Eastern Conference finals against the Detroit Pistons (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/clubhouse?team=det), but has elected not to take the shots in the Finals.
Hughes is 1-of-10 from the field so far in the Finals, while Gibson is averaging 15.5 points on 62 percent shooting.
Gibson scored 31 points in Game 6 of the Eastern Conference finals against the Detroit Pistons as the Cavaliers earned their first Finals appearance in franchise history.

Timone
06-15-2007, 07:40 AM
After watching this series, can you even consider LeBron a top 5 player in this league right now (right now because he still has time to grow)? Regardless of the fact he's ONLY 22 YEARS OLD OMFG and has "no help", dude has no consistent jumper (except vs. the Pistons for some reason), he's not a great finisher, and can't seem to get a handle of when it's his time to assert himself or when it's time to get ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ involved (when all great players do).

And good news: seeing how the Spurs won a title, don't have to worry about them repeating next year. :P

WTFchris
06-15-2007, 09:39 AM
TD, Wade, Kobe and KG are all better than him for sure. After that I think things get dicey on who are the best players. He's definately top 10, but what number is hard to say. Everyone that would be in the 5-10 range hasn't won shit. No, KG hasn't either, but he's still a top 5 player regardless.

It's not a knock on Lebron either. He's still just 24.

WTFchris
06-15-2007, 09:41 AM
BTW, Parker won MVP, just as I thought. Damn I wish I had my alpacas to be on that, I would have put them all on him.

I really do not get why anyone would have ever though the Cavs had a chance. LeBron choked to a degree. Averaged 6 turnovers a game and had so many turnovers in the lsat few minutes of game 4. In game 3, he missed a shitload of layups during the span where no one scored at all. Also, I don't see why Mike Brown gave LeBron the 3. So many players on the team can shootthe 3 better than LeBron can. LeBron actually went 4-21 from 3pt land(or something similar)

Finals were fukn boring, no intensity, no rivalry. I'm sure a shitload of more people would have watched to see a Pistons vs Spurs Finals.

Using whatifsports (it's like crack for sports geeks) to see if the Cavs had at least a shot somehow...

Game 1: Cleveland Cavaliers 98 @ San Antonio Spurs 106
CLE:James 23 points (9/20 fg), 11 reb, 5 ast
SA: Ginobili 29 points

Game 2: Cleveland Cavaliers 94 @ San Antonio Spurs 110
Messed up, forgot to get the box score

Game 3: San Antonio Spurs 106 @ Cleveland Cavaliers 94
SA: Duncan 24 points (9/18 fg), 10 reb, 3 ast, 5 blk
CLE: James 21 points (9/21 fg), 5 reb, 7 ast

Game 4: San Antonio Spurs 105 @ Cleveland Cavaliers 99
SA: Parker 23 pts, 8 ast
CLE: James 33 pts (10/21 fg), 6 reb, 6 ast,

Heh...I *WISH* the scores could've looked like that.
