Imagine a disciplined Amir Johnson and Maxiell under LB. I voted to bring LB in though, but it won't happen. :( Cross 06-02-2007, 11:49 PM Where do epople get the idea of bringing in Larry Brown? Was there a rumor at all of him coming? last i checked it was him going to the bobcats Glenn 06-02-2007, 11:50 PM Maybe Davidson will pull a Dolan and make Joe D coach the team himself. Timone 06-02-2007, 11:50 PM Just wishful thinking, Cross. I'm thinking of starting up a "Larry Brown picture of the day" thread. Glenn 06-02-2007, 11:51 PM Actually, I wouldn't be surprised to see John Hammond named the coach if Flip gets the axe. Timone 06-02-2007, 11:52 PM What about Terry Porter? b-diddy 06-02-2007, 11:56 PM why would LB want to come back? Jmich24 06-02-2007, 11:58 PM Blow it up. Sign and trade billups. Trade sheed. Trade rip and nazi try to get kobe. Dont resign webber. Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 12:00 AM we can get another solid year out of this squad...just we need a scorer via draft... I'm not in favor of blowing it up just yet Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 12:00 AM SIGN MO PETE Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 12:00 AM get Jason Richardson in here...ANYBODY THAT CAN SCORE darkobetterthanmelo 06-03-2007, 12:01 AM Bring in LB to light a fire under these guys. Just don't give him control over personnel, I dont want Eric Snow and Theo Ratliff here. Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 12:01 AM or Derrick Coleman Timone 06-03-2007, 12:05 AM we can get another solid year out of this squad...just we need a scorer via draft... I'm not in favor of blowing it up just yet Solid year in which we get our asses kicked and embarass ourselves constantly in crunch time in the playoffs? There's no point in trying to make another run at it, Cleveland is a better team right now, Chicago sure as hell will be, and Miami will still have Wade and Shaq (with pieces to acquire younger, more athletic talent around them). Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 12:08 AM Well obvioulsy they would have to get a piece that can contribute NOW in the draft...and maybe sign a FA like Mo Pete or something... i hate the NBA... so many politics...its like high school...a fucking joke Laxation 06-03-2007, 12:12 AM i hate the NBA... Blow it up - at least then the offseason will be interesting Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 12:13 AM Blow it up - at least then the offseason will be interesting yeah but next season will be brutal to watch... darkobetterthanmelo 06-03-2007, 12:17 AM Brutal to me is seeing Dale Davis, Flip Murray, and Nazr Mohammed play while Amir Johnson, #15 pick, and Jason Maxiell watch. Laxation 06-03-2007, 01:25 AM yeah but next season will be brutal to watch... I would rather have a losing season, where there is the possibility of getting better in the future. No point hanging on to the past in the hopes of doing any better. We have only gone downhill since 04, we aren't coming back up at this rate. Timone 06-03-2007, 01:29 AM I believe in history repeating itself and I usually try to connect EVERYTHING with something similar that's happened in the past. So I'm predicting the next Pistons' title in 2018. Remember that. micknugget 06-03-2007, 09:51 AM I'm all pissed off at the NBA and teh Pistons but I can still see this team being good for several years without "blowing it up." Getting rid of Dupree, Nazr, and Dale Davis doesn't really matter since they rarely/never played. Nazr doea have some trade value so we should get something in return. Blalock and Flip Murray cold stay or go without any real impact. Hunter needs to retire to the front office. Amir, Max, and Delfino should all stay becase they are young and bring energy plus potential. If Delfino can work on his shot a bit, that would be helpful. Dice comes back for his last year. Rip and Prince are still hiting their prime and should be kept barring a deal for a superstar. Trade away Billups (S&T) and Sheed. Webber would only be brought back as a back-up and at the minimum. Fire Flip Saunders!!!!!!!!!!!!! So we are left with: PG - X/X/Murray/Blalock SG - Rip/Delfino/Murray SF - Prince/X/X PF - Max/Dice/Amir C - X/Webber/X That's still a very good core - then you add: Acker? Samb? Whatever we get for Billups (which would be decent like a player and pick) Whatever we get for Sheed Whatever we get for Nazr #15 #27 Our team stays competitive and at worst would still make the playoffs next years. Depending on what trades we pulled, we could even reamin competitive for the Championship without dumping everyone. DrRay11 06-03-2007, 12:05 PM ^^mick's ideas are fairly similar to mine. Trade Chauncey and Sheed for youth and somehow attempt to get a star that can drive to the rack and get to the line. Such is today's NBA. This team is finished, and they won't magically come back together for an NBA title next year. Not by a long shot. This team is finished. Big Swami 06-03-2007, 12:13 PM I was convinced previously that the only thing we needed to do was to get rid of Flip Saunders. This is still true, but I think we need to lose at least Rasheed now also. Rasheed has not been winning games for us, by and large. He's been losing them. I respect him immensely for his game and his insistence on playing basketball the way basketball should be played; however, his emotional volatility is hitting the point where it's more of a liability than a benefit. In fact, I think you'll see other players improve without him on the team. Glenn 06-03-2007, 01:13 PM I wonder if Flip regrets not taking the U of Minny job this morning? Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 01:15 PM next year the Pistons will probably be the #1 seed again, win 50+, do their thing, yet lose in the 2nd round... lets be realists here, Dumars isn't going to get rid of anybody significant, he's going to overpay Chauncey, and we're still gonna be an old team that will fizzle out of steam in the postseason thats whats gonna happen next year Wilfredo Ledezma 06-03-2007, 01:16 PM not saying i agree w/ it...but its whats gonna happen, Dumars want's to keep the core (Rip, Chauncey, Taysh, Sheed) together...even if it doesn't get you a title... he'll never rebuild b-diddy 06-03-2007, 01:18 PM i honestly expect big changes this year. we just dropped 4 streight to a team. usually when that happens, gm's catch the hint that their team is busted. we're not just another scorer off the bench away anymore. we need wholesale changes. im fairly confident even joe dumars can see that. Glenn 06-03-2007, 01:20 PM Anybody got any good postgame quotes from Dumars? I haven't browsed the newspaper sites yet. |
