Everyone saw the play last night...but here is something interesting that I have gathered from talking to Sheed after the game and now talking to RIP and Flip today at practice.

Here is Sheed last night telling us he thought Lebron was going to shoot the last shot.
Listen here (http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=0521SHEED_3.mp3)

Here is FLIP today telling us that we (detroit) had a defensive breakdown
Listen here (http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=0522FLIP_4.mp3)

...and here is RIP today telling us that they knew Donyell was going to take the shot.
listen here (http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=audio&file=0522RIP_2.mp3)

...now, Sheed is always F'n around during the timeouts...is it me or does anyone see a problem here?

*all sound is from Jason Muhme :D*

Sorry if this should go in another area...I didnt know if I should post here or in the playoff forum.

Sheed is thinking about his taxes and shit when he's on the court? I don't think anyone here will be surprised by that. He plays like he's the goddamn Willy Loman of the basketball court.

In my head, I sometimes compare Sheed with guys like McDyess. You think if Sheed had some kind of major structural issue, like McDyess had with his knees, he'd have the tenacity to come back hard like McDyess did?

I'd say that Sheed looked like he's twice his age out there, but I don't want to insult Mutombo. Every guy gets older and stops really caring about basketball at some point. For some guys that point comes sooner than for others.

I thought he screwed up too. Sheed leaving Marshall was almost the same as him leaving Horry. Probably worse, since he had no chance to help on Lebron from where he was. Even getting a rebound would have been iffy because he was still 10-15 feet from the basket at that point. He got caught in no mans land and got lucky.

It shouldn't have mattered though because Lebron could have laid it in himself.

Given the speed at which LeBron was zipping to the rack, it's an honest mistake to think that was where he was going. I'm having a hard time ripping on Sheed when he was one of the few players who came to play for 48 minutes.

It depends. Flip and RIP both sounded like they were told not to leave Marshall. Probably what happened is someone else did not help properly and Sheed was forced to help. I'd bet anything they wanted to help off someone else and they didn't react.

Respectfully disagree. Sheed left DM on the weak side. Not a mistake on defense, iirc. When he left Horry, Horry was on the strong side and he shouldn't have left him.

Sheed was locked in on blocks last night. I agree he was 'anxious' to get underneath. It didn't look like he wanted to be on the wing covering DM. So if the ball was on his side then his 'anxiousness' to get underneath would have been a mistake, imo.

Just to add to this...DD said on S&W that he wouldnt have left Marshall in that situation and really that wasnt the plan.
