I would be happy with 2-2. However, 3-1 would be ideal so everyone can get off the BoSox' junk.

The first three games are very winnable. Durbin could get LIT UP on Thursday so hopefully we can save the bullpen some.

We have a lot of right handed power bats, I would think we'd fair well in Fenway as hitters at least.

Should be a fun series....I'm actually starting to have a bit more faith in Durbin, thanks to Kenny

May 12, DetroitTigers.com: While [Rogers is] working toward his return, he's trying to make an impact by doing what he can for the guys who are contributing now. He has been seen numerous times talking with pitchers in the dugout in between innings, lending advice when asked or observations when he notices something.

On Saturday, he had tips for Chad Durbin in between many of his innings. Early on, when Durbin gave up three walks in his first two innings, Rogers encouraged him to keep the same approach, since he wasn't missing the strike zone by much, but just come back towards the plate a bit.

"It's huge," Durbin said. "Because he's been out there doing it all his career, he really makes sense with what he's saying. And he has a good approach when he's talking, too. He's not telling. He's saying, 'Well, why don't you try this? And if it doesn't work for you, try this.'"

maybe the Gambler needs to wander down to the bullpen....they are really starting to worry me

Why does Leyland refuse to use Infante to backup Guillen or Polanco? I don't understand what he sees in Neifi.

Fuck a Neifi.

A potential roomate in his old-folks home?

Anybody else see Leyland's pregame quote about Dice-K?

Classic.

Leylands pregame quote was absolutely gold...Wilbon loved it on PTI...but now the medias trying to make him look bad since Dice-K clamped the lid down...I hate Red Sox bias...

Wakefield tonight, knuckleball!

Mags at the plate, takes a home run swing at Wakefield's pitch and misses horribly. Next pitch, Mags takes another home run swing, connects, and sends it over the Green Monster and out of the ballpark. NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What was Leyland's pregame quote? I never saw it.

Glenn

"I don't give a (expletive) about him," Leyland said. "I'm not getting into all that. I could give a (expletive) less. It's another pitcher. We're playing Boston. Obviously, he's an outstanding pitcher. He's a major league pitcher. And that's who we're facing."

Apparently Maroth is sick, enter the great Zach Miner.

Two tilts on tap for Tigers on Thursday
Detroit (24-14) at Boston (26-12), 12:35, 7:05 p.m. ET
By Jason Beck / MLB.com

The Tigers are 7-0 this season when Mike Maroth is pitching. However, Maroth is 0-6 for his career when the Red Sox are in the batters' box against him.

Unfortunately, something had to give. On Wednesday, it was the weather. On Thursday, it was Maroth's health.

What was scheduled to be a Wednesday night matchup on ESPN was rained out by a storm system that passed through New England in the afternoon and stuck around for most of the evening. Maroth, who was scheduled to start the first game of their day-night doubleheader, was scratched late due to illness.

Instead, Zach Miner will assume mound duties for Detroit on Thursday afternoon in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Curt Schilling, who will start Thursday's nightcap, has struck out 36 Tigers over 28 innings. But Detroit has hit .325 against him over his career, sending him to losses in three of their four meetings.

Schilling's counterpart, Chad Durbin, will pitch in the same ballpark where he made his final start before undergoing Tommy John elbow ligament-replacement surgery. He tried to pitch through elbow pain in 2002, and he made it to Fenway for his second start before he couldn't do it anymore. He gave up five hits, four walks and four runs and promptly went on the disabled list before heading to surgery later in the year.

Sean Casey's got to go. I don't care how "good of a guy" he is, he offers nothing on the field. He's out of shape, even worse than normal. Time for a change.

How do you manage to get owned by Julian Tavares?

With Pudge, Guillen, Polanco, Ordonez, Sheffield and Granderson all in the lineup, they only manage 4 hits?

If they suck that bad against Tavares today, Schilling is a lock for a perfect game tonight.

Fuck. 1 out, bases loaded, and we manage to suck. DAMNIT.

Sean Casey was just a few feet shy of his first career grand slam, too. It would have been nice if Eric Hinske had fallen down. He looked like a mess out there trying to field that hit, but sadly he recovered and caught it for the out. But how does Carlos strike out there?
The team better be ticked off heading into tonight's battle with St. Louis.
