....Dig at you severely with ultimate bitterness, or would you wish him well?

No bitterness towards Ben. I hope the Bulls never make the finals again though. I picked option 3.

I couldn't care less! If he ain't a Piston, fuck him!
If Detroit doesn't win it, or go, I won't be watching, and I won't give a shit WHO wins it!

I have no problem with Ben Wallace. I'm glad he found someone to sign a big-ass paycheck for him, and I'm also glad it's not Bill Davidson.

I remember quite vividly wanting to puke seeing Kirk Gibson celebrate a world series title as a dodger, so thoroughly overshadowing in the national spotlight what he'd done as a tiger.

Maybe in three or four years towards the end of his deal I'd watch it and cheer for him but in the near future it would be a kick in the nuts.

The collusion fiasco and Gibby going to LA marked the end of MLB in my life (not that I was ever a huge Tigers fan to begin with). I didn't begrudge Kirk Gibson's success at all, because it was clear that Ueberroth and his Satanic servant Tom Monaghan were fucking us over. Remember, Gibby would've signed with us for a little less, if Monaghan hadn't trashed him publically (one of those Christian acts of kindness -- NOT!). Lance Parrish, Jack Morris, and some of the other "Bless You Boys"-era players were also fucked by Monaghan beforehand.

I don't see that situation being much like Ben Wallace.

I'll spell it out for you... star player leads local team to championship, moves (for whatever reason) to another team and ends up winning another championship right on the heels of it.

You're getting sidetracked in the particulars of why the player left which has no bearing on my comment.

To me, when Kirk Gibson was essentially pushed out, that spelled the end of my being a Tigers fan. By the time that he hit that historic homer, I'd washed myself clean of the Tigers' antics.

When Ben Wallace left of his own accord, I continued to bleed Pistons blue without a second thought. He left us, and he punked out a bit on us as a parting gift.

The Pistons organization has done shitty things (backstabbing Tom Wilson in a basketball operations role -- ugh). But even at their worst, I never thought of them as thoroughly toxic the way the Tigers were under Monaghan. They never kicked Blaha to the curb, or hired Sparky Anderson as GM.

Just my gut feelings about the matters... not the same for everyone.
