View Full Version : OST: Royals @ Tigers H1Man 04-16-2007, 07:33 PM Just turned on the game to see Pudge hit a Grand Slam. 4-0 Tigers. H1Man 04-16-2007, 07:51 PM How is it that the Tigers make scrubs look like Cy Youngs (Towers) and studs look like career minor leaguers (Grienke)? JickBoy34 04-16-2007, 08:15 PM Greinke is not a stud DrRay11 04-16-2007, 09:52 PM He's got good stuff. After peeking at the Tigers' batting averages, I'm slightly more comfortable with our current record seeing that everyone is batting well below par outside of Pudge, Granderson, and Polanco. H1Man 04-16-2007, 10:17 PM Greinke is not a stud Compared to some of the guys we lost to this year, he is. Jethro34 04-16-2007, 10:51 PM Greinke had stud potnetial at one point. His stuff was better than Bonderman. In 2004, at the age of 20, he won 8 games for the pathetic Royals with a 3.97 ERA. The next season got to his head and losing wore on him quickly. He considered leaving the game altogether but instead chose to go to Double A and play with kids his own age. In his first two starts this season, with a renewed love for the game, he pitched 13 innings against Blue Jays and Red Sox, only allowing 2 earned runs while striking out 12. The kid has talent. Yeah, stud is way premature, but it was a label people were very willing to project on him a few years ago. Anyhow, I love the offensive breakout. What can you say about Gary Sheffield? 3 more walks tonight. Even when his swing isn't working he's getting on base, running up pitch counts and keeping innings alive. He scores 3 runs tonight with only one hit. That's good stuff. Once he gets the timing right with his swing, he'll get his OBP up over .400. It's beautiful. DrRay11 04-17-2007, 09:58 PM Nice job Jonesy! Jethro34 04-17-2007, 10:04 PM Nice late comeback win. Ledezma was a bit shaky tonight, but got it right in time and they managed the victory. He's 3-0, the Tigers are tied for the most wins in the majors, and Jones has 7 saves. I like it! Glenn 04-18-2007, 01:09 PM Lineups: Kansas City D. DeJesus CF E. German 2B M. Teahen RF M. He hasn't hit in like 3 years. Worthless. Glenn 04-18-2007, 02:51 PM Bondo deserves to get his first win today. He's at 86 pitches through 7, I wonder if Leyland will let him try and finish? Glenn 04-18-2007, 02:55 PM He's at 86 pitches through 7, I wonder if Leyland will let him try and finish? Scratch that, Zoom is in. A bit of an early hook it would appear, I hope there isn't an injury involved. Glenn 04-18-2007, 03:03 PM Wow, look at the avgs for the 3 through 9 hitters in our lineup today. G. Glenn 04-18-2007, 03:15 PM I placed a call to "the girls" but I just called them back and told them to hold up. Glenn 04-18-2007, 03:33 PM I would have loved to see Bonderman get a chance to finish this one, now we're losing in extra innings to the fucking Royals. To quote Keith Olberman, "guh". WTFchris 04-18-2007, 03:48 PM I would have loved to see Bonderman get a chance to finish this one, now we're losing in extra innings to the fucking Royals. To quote Keith Olberman, "guh". I was watching the play by play on the game cast and Guillen struck out looking? WTF? Swing dumbass. Glenn 04-18-2007, 03:48 PM I bet Bondo's head is about to explode. MoTown 04-18-2007, 03:49 PM FUCKING RODNEY. Why, dear God, does Leyland have any faith in him? I'd rather have Grilli blowing the game than him. Glenn 04-18-2007, 03:51 PM Jethro, You can officially stop the Todd Jones man-love now, too. WTFchris 04-18-2007, 04:18 PM Bondo, Verlander and Robertson have a combined 3 wins with a 1.93 ERA. DrRay11 04-18-2007, 04:39 PM This is fucking ridiculous. This is beginning to remind me of two years ago when our pitchers pitched extremely well but we couldn't win. micknugget 04-18-2007, 08:50 PM I like Leyland but WTF? Zumaya pitches the 8th inning and gets three outs WITH ONLY SEVEN PITCHES!!! LEAVE HIM IN!!! Instead he goes to Jones who gives up the lead and then Rodney who loses the game for us. I hope that the Royals give Leyland a nice F#$@ing x-mas present for that gift today! DAMMIT!!! Jethro34 04-18-2007, 09:55 PM You mean the sarcastic TJ man-love? Anyone who was here last season should know how much long term confidence I really have in him. He hit midseason form today. The Cy Young jokes should have been taken seriously by precisely no one. Glenn 04-19-2007, 05:11 AM Whatever, take down that Jones poster from your wall and put the old Lance Parrish one back up. [smilie=jefffoster.: Jethro34 04-19-2007, 06:59 AM I got rid of the old Lance Parish poster. I have a new one in a Great Lakes Loons jersey. It's up in between David Hasselhoff and Tom Selleck. I promise, there never was room for the Jonesy poster. WTFchris 05-07-2007, 12:02 PM Wrong Royals series, but oh well... Nice of Nefe to pad his numbers with a meaningless HR, his first as a Tiger BTW. The guy is worthless in almost every at bat otherwise and decides to get a decent hit when it does nothing to help us. Jethro34 05-07-2007, 12:46 PM Come on, let's see some thick trunk action putting a broom to good use! MoTown 05-13-2007, 11:11 PM No series thread was made so I'll put it in here: Vasquez BLOWS. Why even start a guy that's been proven to suck in the minors? I know it's just one game out of 162, but I don't think they wanted to win this one. What they hell happened to Minor? He's good for ONE start. H1Man 05-13-2007, 11:32 PM Vasquez has been our best pitcher in Toledo. Miner, with the way he has been pitching this year (5.57 ERA), wasn't an option. WTFchris 05-14-2007, 10:33 AM Hopefully that was at least a good learning experience for him and maybe something to build on. With all the relief pitching woes we are having it never hurts to have another arm to call up later if this does benifit him. |
