Especially with how our hitting's been before last night.

You have to be freaking kidding me.

Bonderman gives up a homer on the first pitch, then makes it through 9 with no other runs.
Halladay goes 10!
Bonderman had a lower pitch count and could have gone into the 10th. But no, we put our 2nd worst pitcher of the young season in, who promptly gives up 3 straight hits THAT DIDN'T MAKE IT OUT OF THE INFIELD!? Then a sacrifice fly to end it. No outs for Rodney.
Someone want to explain why this happened? Why no Bonderman? Why, if anyone, Rodney?
WHY CAN'T WE FUCKING HIT?
Just when Halladay's pitch count was getting up there and we had a chance to face someone else, we let him out of the 9th on 5 freaking pitches. TAKE A DAMN PITCH! So what if he strikes everyone out. Surely you can get him to throw at least 4 more pitches, likely more, then face someone else in the 10th!

Let's see, last time Durbin pitched I was calling for Ledezma to replace him in the lineup. He responds by giving up another 6 runs in his next outing, only this time it's through 4 innings instead of 4.2. Nicely done. So we bring in Jason 20.25 ERA Grilli instead of Ledezma? Ledezma hasn't pitched since Wednesday and could keep us in this game, but no. Leyland is drinking some bad Canadian water right now in terms of how he's handling the staff. I still trust the guy, but he's throwing away games in the name of "a long season". I repeat, an April win carries the same weight in the standings as a September win.

Is Leyland not throwing Ledezma in Rogers' place because he wants a lefty in the pen? I'd much rather see Ledezma in the rotation than Durbin...

We've got Seay in the pen as a lefty. No need to waste runs when Wil could be shutting guys down.

Way to steal one, men!

Why not try Miner or Miller or Tata for a few games? Durbin is not getting it done. Way to steal one, and way to go my boy Marcus.

Go figure with Grilli pitching no-hit ball for 3 innings. My boy Wil getting the win despite giving up the homer. Jones is clutch so far. I don't understand it.

Anyway, nice heart shown by the squad to grit this one out and take advantage of mistakes.

I just don't understand why Miner isn't starting or even playing for us as opposed to the minors. He did a pretty good job last season. Durbin just plain sucks.

Durbin does suck. Ledezma, Miner, Miller, but Durbin? Why?

I say Minor or Ledezma. Miller just got roughed up down in A ball, he definitely needs most of a season down there to learn how to pitch. No point in rushing him. Durbin blows though and has for ten years.

nice to seethat even though the iron sheff is in a major slump, he's still contributing (3 runs scored today). gotta get him going though.

The reason why Durbin is with the Tigers is simple. He is out of options. So if we were to send him down to Toledo, he would have to go through waivers. And as bad as Durbin is, there are teams that have worse pitchers as their # 3 and 4 guys.

And as far as our other options go, Ledezma is far too valuable in the pen and is probably better suited as a reliever than as a starter anyway. Miner hasn't been throwing that well this season for Toledo (7.27 ERA in 2 games) and Leyland isn't a big fan of his nibbling the strike zone. Miller probably has the best stuff but he shouldn't be rushed and he needs to build up his arm strength in the minors. And Jordan Tata has been injured and hasn't pitched yet this season.

So we are pretty much stuck with Durbin for atleast 1 or 2 more starts, maybe more.

I think Inge would get more guys out than Durbin.
