Ben update

Ben Wallace was released from St. John's-Oakwood hospital at about 4:30 p.m. He was treated for sinusitis (don't hold me to the spelling on that -- it's basically a severe sinus infection). He will not be at the arena tonight, but is expected to fly back to Chicago with the team.

Wallace was admitted to the hospital early Wednesday morning, complaining of sinus pain, sore throat and high fever. A battery of tests were administered, including a spinal tap (checking for spinal meningitis). His condition improved throughout the day.

Tyrus Thomas also has the flu, and was going to be a game-time decision. The Bulls canceled their shoot-around because of all the sickness.

Ben Wallace sick

Don't look for Ben Wallace tonight when the Bulls play at The Palace. I am going to have more information on this later, but he has been sick for a couple of days and was hospitalized in the Detroit area Wednesday. A multitude of tests were run on him, but the early information I've gotten is that he has sinusitis. He could be laid up here for at least another day, so I don't expect him to return to Chicago with the team. Like I said, I will have more specific details later.

End of the third and the Pistons are down 15. We are playing like crap. Ity becomes apparent on mights like these that Flip is really a mediocre coach at best. We aren't exploiting match ups, we aren't playing d, and we aren't passing. We keep firing long range shots and go into double teams. Rip with 3 offensive fouls. Sheed with 2 frustration fouls. If we play like this in the playoffs we'll be lucky to get past the first round. Tonight.......WE SUCK!!!!!

nice to see that we are in playoff form. unfortunate that its last years playoff form.

disgusting, pathetic, embarassing loss. the entire team should be ashamed of themselves.

the bulls are simply a better team than us, and we cannot get further than the 2nd round of the upcoming playoffs at this rate. :(

Keep your pants on. They are not the better team, or the more talented team. In a 7 game playoff series Detroit will beat them.

And this isn't last years team. We have a bench, when the game matters we can play playoff defense. And the offense works best when we play halfcourt post up basketball. No one can double Rasheed this year.

didnt watch the game but seems like rip needs to keep his cool?

In these games, we need everyone to step up. Tay taking 5 shots is not taking over...

bubbles- i would like to believe you. but the more i watch the bulls, the more impressed i am. i hate to say that. but their youth, athleticism, tenacity, and hunger makes me believe they would beat us in a 7 game series.

it kills me to say that but that's how i see it at this point. true, playoff basketball is different. but they didn't have ben or nocioni- 2 other key players for them. and they handled us like we were a bunch of rookies.

they kill us on the boards and with all the hustle plays. and they defend us very well and contest everything- on and off the ball. they do things WE used to do so well- we need to start taking them seriously because they have a hell of a team. and lord knows a jumpshooting team like us does not respond well to a team that plays agressive, in your face ball.

the bulls had the eventual champs on the ropes last year before they blew it. they're a year older and more mature and more talented now.

i want to believe we're going to play up to our potential and compete for a title. my heart tells me it can happen. but my mind tells me we won't even come out of the east. i hope i'm wrong and it won't stop me from rooting as hard as anybody for this team.

but i just don't share the same optimism as you, unfortunately....

cross- rip DOES need to keep his cool. he's lucky thomas didn't clock him in his mouth. i love rip and he is a fiesty guy, but he would've gotten pummeled by thomas, punk rookie or not.

they were pushing a bit back and forth for position, but rip was clearly the instigator as he got frustrated with thomas being all over him and he started jabbing elbows at him and backswinging with them.

i think it was just the frustration of a ugly performance by the whole team.

we need to redirect our anger and frustration onto the opponent in a different way; by executing, busting our asses, and beating them in every aspect of the game. instead we're whining and waiting for good things to happen for us, instead of MAKING them happen.

This has nothing to do with optimism. Detroit is a better and more talented team. A team that is built better for a playoff run. Chicago doesn't even have a half court offense. They just run around in circles looking for a jumpshot. Detroit has 4 post up options in the starting lineup. Years of practice at it. And they step up the defense and hustle bigtime when it counts.

Now, if Flip like a jackass goes away from that when it matters. Then I'll panic. But right now, losing the 3rd game of 4 days on a back to back because of a jumpshooting 2nd half means nothing to me.

What you saw last night doesn't exist in the playoffs.
It should have no application to it.

I also found it upsetting with what a guy like Thomas brings to their team in energy and athleticism. We have a guy who might very well be better than Thomas wasting away in the NBDL and another sitting on the bench most of the game. Against a team with young athletic forwards, Dice, Sheed, and C. Webb seem to have problems.

the season series against these guys has not been encouraging.

I'm just hoping it was tired legs in the 2nd half. One thing is for sure, we need to play higher level D in the playoffs.

So fuck it, fuck it, fuck it.
