AUBURN HILLS -- Poor Richard Hamilton.

The Pistons guard has been sick for a week with a flu-like illness, just like some of his teammates.

But more than that has been wrong.

Hamilton revealed Saturday that he's also recovering from a mild concussion, incurred March 18 while playing in a 92-88 loss to the Mavericks. He has experienced headaches, dizziness, painful reaction to bright light and blurry vision, on top of the flu.

"I didn't know once you get hit, it can take a couple of days for you to possibly feel it," Hamilton said about his worsening health over the last two weeks. "That was way more than flu ... "I told them from day one, I know what it feels like to have the flu. I know what it feels like to throw up, coughing, and doing all that other crazy stuff. But it was my head. They couldn't understand why I was getting pain and feeling dizzy and stuff like that. But once I got a couple of days of rest, I started feeling better."

Hamilton didn't practice with the Pistons Saturday, but worked out on his own with strength and conditioning coach Arnie Kander. His status for Sunday's game against the Heat at The Palace is questionable.

Pistons coach Flip Saunders said he didn't want to push Hamilton's return. He is planning on likely starting Flip Murray again in Hamilton's place against the Heat.

"I'll talk to him and see what he can do," Saunders said. "We're hoping he can play a little bit."

This is Hamilton's first concussion. He isn't sure if getting knocked on the head from Chris Webber or Erick Dampier -- or a combination of both collisions -- caused the concussion.

He has seen several doctors, as well as had a CAT scan, to diagnose his concussion.

"One of the doctors asked me if I had gotten hit in the head recently, and I said no," Hamilton said. "But then I thought about it, and said yes, but that was three or four days ago. And the doctor said, yo, that's sometimes the worst thing. It comes in a couple days, when you really feel it."

Hamilton said he has been simply laying low and resting the last few days. He has missed the last three Pistons games.
